Bottle picked up at the brewery. It pours clear darkest brown, approaching black with a a quickly dissipating tan head. The aroma is bitter - sweet, rich roasted malt, intoxicating, rich chocolate character, chocolate bourbon biscuits, dried fruits, toasted fruit cake, fruity whisky character, quite maritime and savoury through the back end. The taste is initially deceptively smooth, bitter - sweet, dark roasted malt, whisky soaked oak, chewy, toothy, plenty of dried fruits, raisin, sultana, fig, toasted fruit cake, slightly medicinal, warming booze, quite savoury, some umami, liquorice allsorts and toasty spice with a warming, dried fruit finale. Medium+ body and fairly mellow, soft carbonation. Dangerously drinkable. Nice depth of flavour.

Keg at Drygate. It pours clear pale red, blush with a small white head. The aroma is zingy, tangy, musty, barnyard, cherry yoghurt, Keffir, creamy, sour milk, damp grain and red berry. The taste is crispy, dry, snappy, lactic, natural yoghurt, cherry is there, but mellow, crunchy red fruits, raspberry, redcurrant, lactic, puckering and some salt & vinegar / pickled onion crisps. Light body and fine, prickly carbonation. Had hoped the cherry would be brighter, but the sour milk character dominates. Fair.

Keg at Drygate. It pours only slightly hazy yellow - blonde with a small white cap. The aroma is soft, sweet, damp grain, floury bread, apricot, peach, citrus peel, grassy and some pic n mix. The taste is crispy, dry, snappy, bitter, drying, green, grassy, pine, herbal, leafy, citrus peel, peppery spice, some stone fruit and nip of alcohol with a dry, piney finish. Average body and moderate, prickly carbonation. It's odd that this hazy version is very much west coast. I liked it though.
