Tap at Brother Chimp. Spot on Italian Pils. Clean and bready, quite earthy dry vegetal hop tone. Great example of Saphir. A pinch soapy. Good.

Pint at Brother Chimp. Bready, chocolate, caramel notes. Quite enjoyable, really diving deep into the style. Great ABV, full bodied and rich without entering Imperial levels. Solid.

Tap at Brother Chimp. Pretty much spot in example of the style. Easy drinking, smooth smoked wheat. Lingering aftertaste, deep flavor. Great.

Draft at Skeleton Key's Little Key in back of the tornado-damaged brewery. Dark pour, with brown foam, and noticable legs even on a plastic cup. Thick, roasty nose with warming alcohol in evidence. The taste shows definite rye from the beginning: smooth but a little spicy. Warming and tasty. I even thought there was some wood to it, but this is not barrel aged. Again, maybe the rye or the malt roast at work.

16 oz can from Orange & Brew, March 21. Popping the tab on another new-to-me brewer. Nice grassy hop smell when I do pop that tab. Pours an off-white, sudsy head over a light amber body. No fruity hop in the smell, mainly grass, pine and pine sap. A good old-fashioned West Coast IPA nose. Taste is a familiar smack of Citra hop. Invites comparisons to Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, and from there I'd say it's less malty than the SNPA, but there's a decent dryness to the malts. Hops notes get stronger as I drink more of it, begins to curdle the tongue. Still, glad to know someone;s still doing the old-fashioned IPAs.
