Barney's Beer
Microbrewery

Edinburgh,
Scotland 🏴
Associated Venue: Royal Dick (Barney's)
Established in 2010
In doing so, his immaculate microbrewery has injected new life into Edinburgh’s brewing history, not least because he’s chosen to resurrect a brewery at Summerhall where beer has been brewed off and on for three centuries.

Can from Great Grog. Amber body with a light haze and a thin off-white head. Lively carbonation. Patchy lacing. Aroma of grass, white bread and cardamom. Flavour of lemon and marzipan. Medium body with a slick mouthfeel. Light fizz. It lacks the sweetness of my favourite dubbels, but this is still a tasty and interesting beer.

440ml can. Clear golden with a white head. Aroma of sweet caramel/toffee malts, grapefruit, resin. Taste is initially sweet and malty, caramel, toffee, resinous, grapefruit, marmalade, bitter finish. Medium bodied. Good but a bit too much of the malt sweetness for me.

440ml can. Almost clear golden with a huge white head. Aroma of bready malts, overripe citrus. Taste of bready malts with a fairly sweet overripe citrusy tang, some grass and grains. Light-medium bodied. Bit too sweet for my liking, but ok.
