The Brewery Michael Plank was established in 1617. It is a small, family owned business that is now under the direction of the 16th generation Michael Plank.
The current Michael Plank is now the brewmaster and is credited with honing the traditional recipes to their current levels which have led to the company being named as the "Best Small Brewery in the World" at the 2006 & 2012 World Beer Cup! That makes Plank the only brewery to have been awarded this World Beer Cup....twice.

(bottle) Slightly unclear, dark amber colour with a medium-sized slightly off-white foamy head. Light-sweet cara-malty aroma with herbal and spicy (nettles) hops. Bitter-sweet and slightly sour flavour, light to medium bodied with a lively carbonation. (bottle) Clear, greenish golden colour with a fluffy white foamy head. Moderately sweet malty and grainy aroma with notes of barnyard and shy traces of hops. Light-bitter flavour, light to medium bodied with a slightly fizzy carbonation. Pale malt-character, again with notes of barnyard; dry bitter-sweet malty finish Likeable and rural Helles. 14.XI.07

Refrigerated bottle poured into a weizen glass. Pours a deep cloudy golden color with big chunks of yeast and a huge bright white head. Extremely carbonated (actually too much) and fair lacing. Taste is malt (mostly caramel) banana. Good but not great.

Bottle. Very sweet orange, banana, and wheat malt flavor. Cloudy yellow-brown color with large off white head. Lightly sweet banana and wheat malt flavor. Watery palate. Very nice aroma but flavor much lighter. Not bad for a reduced alcohol beer.

Bottle. It’s a hazy, dark orange beer with a rapidly diminishing off-white head starting out at two-finger height. The aroma is sweetish, with banana, fruits and caramel. Some whiffs of spices and acetone in the back. The flavor has a more evident acetone than the aroma has, but fortunately the banana and caramel sweetness dominates. Bitter, banana-fruity finish. Full-bodied and effervescent. Overall, a nice beer, but I would like it even more without the acetone. 091223

(bottle) Hazy, murky amber colour with a big and beige foamy head. Yeasty, sweet and slightly toasty wheat-malty aroma with notes of dried fruits and vanilla. Sweet and slightly acidic flavour, medium bodied with a pleasant, quite crispy carbonation. Yeasty, toast-malty and slightly wheaty taste with notes of caramel, dried fruits, plums and a delicately spicy touch of cloves; lasting toast-malty and rounded fruity finish with mildly spicy notes. Bottle 500ml. @ home.Clear dark red brown color with a large, frothy to creamy, good lacing, mostly lasting, light beige head. Aroma is moderate malty, dark roasted, caramel, wheat notes, light to moderate yeasty, dark dried fruit. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and moderate bitter with a long duration, dark roasted, chocolate. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20100317]

Applesauce aroma, with light babyfood hints. Clear golden, headless. Harsh mouthfeel. Applesauce flavor, with a tart finish. The over carbonation is a major distraction.
