Cloudy, yellow. Bubbly head. Has a pedio aroma, with just a touch of brett. On the palate, light brett, some lemony notes. The pale malts show a touch of sweetness. It’s decent, but I’m not sure this comes together all that well. Just a bunch of decent elements, but that’s it.

Draught at St. Augustine’s, Vancouver
Cloudy blond color. Crisp malt aroma with light grass and light coriander. The mouthfeel is very dry, the yeast character is quite strong, with spice, mild astringency, and some chicory in the final. There is also a peculiar watermelon note (I didn’t know that it’s brewed with cucumber).
Not bad.

Near black, with a medium head. Sort of a burnt roast - must be the espresso - dominating the aroma. On the palate some nice malt sweetness with dark sugars. But then the roast kicks in, aggressively, and this detracts from the finish. It’s just harsh and this beer would need a lot less to let the nice malt sugars do their thing.

Poured from the 650mL bottle. Hazy orange with minimal off-white head. Cloying sweetness with vegetable and hint of wood. Very poor example of a tripel.

Poured from 650mL bottle. Pale straw yellow with minimal white head. Grainy light Belgian yeast with the tiniest hint of lemon and coriander. Very light watery body. Not sure why they decided to mass produce this R&D bore.

Hazy dark amber color with creamy head. Mild aroma of malt, caramel, fudge. Good body strength, malt flavor with a fudge side, a bit nutty; light esters in the final; the alcohol is a bit too evident.
Not an Old Ale, just a simple Strong Ale. A bit rough, but not bad. Would be ok in a small bottle, in front of the fireplace, with low expectations.

Poured from 650mL bottle. Dark brown black with light beige head. Lots of bourbon with some chocolate and mild vanilla and coffee. Liking the bourbon barrel quality, but it does take away from the Belgian quad quality a bit - approved nonetheless. Certainly an anomaly, especially in BC.
