Brewery draught, 10/26/25.
As pictured.
Roasty porter with some decent chocolate sweetness and a touch of herbal hop.
Very roasty porter character with a reasonable body and mild chocolate notes. Why is this an old ale? It just tastes like a porter. It's fine and well-made beer (albeit very dry with a bit of a dearth of comforting malt), but would like to have seen some more aged qualities, wood aging, Brett....i don't know...anything to separate this from a porter of its size which it is indistinguishable from.

Brewery draught, 10/26/25.

Chocolatey-caramelly. Some toast and mild ester. Clean.
Great acidity and bitterness from fermentation and lightly toasted malt. Nice to see some acidity from the yeast and a good deal of malt depth and flavor. Milk chocolate and mild bitterness lingering. Yeah, I mean, this is English, and it's a hell of a lot of flavor if it's actually 3.8%.

Taster pour at the brewery. Clear, pale yellow with thin ring of head, light lacing. Aroma is strong corn and malt. Taste is as aroma. Smooth texture, soft carbonation and finish as taste. Straightforward but good strength. Highly drinkable.

Taster pour at the brewery. Lightly hazy yellow with ring of head. Aroma of mild Kolsch but equally strong pale malt. Taste follows aroma. Frothy texture, soft carbonation and finish as taste. Not a huge fan of Kolsch so didn't mind that it was a bit of a Kolsch-lager hybrid. Kolsch fans would find this weak, I think.
