Smell - weak, some hops. Foam - thin, watery, almost no taste, but quite large. Taste - little off bitterness and little sweetness, more bitterness in aftertaste, dont like it.

Smell - medium strong, yest ish, nothing special Foam - medium thick, quite soft, weak bitterness in background. Taste - weak bitter, some sweetness, some yeast, actually interesting, maybe bit too sweet, but quite easy drinking.

Lets add to the series of kvassman... Smell - medium strong, malt mainly. It is malt drink after all. Foam - watery, soft, malt sweetness over the top. Taste - very malty sweet, dont really like it. At least it is not unstintingly sweet, but still malt taste is bit too much, basically feels like you mixed malt with water, there may be some extra tastes to it, but will not try to find them.

(Re-rate based on checklist) Smell- weak, smoke, malt, roast, caramel. Foam- thin to medium, soft, weak roast feel. Medium size foam, creamy white, brown coffee foam color. Appearance-clear, medium dark, red, brown color, some carbonation. Taste-weak roast, weak bittersweetness, weak caramel, aftertaste there is some roast, and weak bitter notes. Very similar to other one, smell feels bit better for this one. --Old score: 6/4/7/4/15 3.6-- Used to be one of my favorite Latvian dark beers. Smell - medium strong, roasted tones, maybe bit caramel. Foam - soft, not creamy, some little carbonation and sweet bitterness at start. Taste - Little bitter, sweet, caramel tones, little bittersweet aftertaste. Best mass produced dark beer in Latvia. Never understood difference between 3 dark Bauska beer types though...

500 ml plastic bottle in Riga. Pours brown, somewhat hazy and with just a few bubbles on the top. Nose is bready plus some sticky sweet caramel. Tastes sweet, lots of bread, kind of "leivasupp" here, really reminding me some school lunches. Just way too sweet to really enjoy this although feels more authentic than some other kvass out there. Would be lovely if it was drier.

Bottle, thanks Eddan. A bit dark golden with a white head. Sweet with caramel, malt and hints of grass. The bitterness was low.

Bottle from Rimi, Riga Quite a surprise this one. Was expecting it to just be a rebadged Gaisais, but it was quite different. Very lively when opened, poured with a significant, though temporary, cream head and was a rich amber brown colour. Hint of toffee in the nose, mouthfeel was mainly malt with a hint of caramel. Not as carbonated as most Bauska beers – possibly my favourite of theirs. I will certainly drink this again.
