Odd cedar nose with light babyfood and oatmeal hints. Opaque ochre with a few flakes, medium yellow head. Somewhat astringent for the style. It tastes of sour wood and apples with an obvious and intense wheat bread crust finish. Pesky alcohol seems to hang around like an unvited party guest. Strange beer and fabulously unique.

Bottle 50cl.Clear medium amber color with a large, frothy, good lacing, fully lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, toasted, duusty, oxidide malt, barnyard - leather, cardboard. Flavor is moderate sweet and light bitter with a average duration. Body is medium, texture is watery to oily, carbonation is soft. [20090802]

AR: crisp bread, wee citrus AP: bronze in color, wee yellowish white frothy head F: citrus, bready, bitter, of flavoured pilzner new rating 2,0 - enter the new rating! Since in Scotland at the moment (English Ale, do): A: IrnBru colored, light foam (disappearing quickly) S: Hops T: Hops of course, citrus, perhaps a dash of cherry. Bottled (from Co-op as "Gold Miner", BB 06/2010). Golden color, not much head. Woody, grassy nose. Crisp citrusy flavor, a bit grainy feeling.

Cask-conditioned at the Commercial Rooms (JDW), Bristol 8/07/09. Deep amber in colour with a slight white head. Orange marmalade aroma with some earthiness. Flavour had sweet oranges that reminded of spangles and an earthy, bitter finish. An odd combination but not undrinkable.
