An amber beer with a huge beige head. The aroma is very hoppy - going towards citrus and spices. The flavor is malty, bisquity, and quite hoppy, leading to a very dry bitter hoppy end - that is almost spicy.

Deep golden color, rich syrupy nose with brandy and herbs. The mouth feels dead. Starts malty then into more hops, but the beer has gone bad so it has an odd mouthfeel. The finish is a huge off puttingly bitter that you get when a bottle condition beer goes off, though I can see the potential there.

A very opaque head on top of a pitch black brew. Huge roasted mallt nose with charcol and ink (yuk too much for me). Starts off very roasted, then some ink and almost acidic mouthfeel and very faint milk chocolate and a dry roasted finish.

Gravity cask at Ashford Beer Festival. Chestnut colour, slight rubbery smell, some hops leading to caramel malt flavour, fullish in mouth, kick of alcohol, longish slightly burnt treacle finish

[Cask at Volunteers Arms, GBBF, 2004] A nut-brown beer with a small light brown head. The aroma is sweet and roasted. The flavor is sweet malty with notes of roasted bread.

A light brown beer with a small beige head. The aroma is primarily spicy, while the flavor is rather sweet with notes of cardemomme and coriander. I think this ought to be a Christmas beer.

Bottle Conditioned
Cloudy golden color. Herbal aroma, pungent, with some malt. Malty and bitter; astringent; minty herbal taste. Not bad, but quite odd.

Orange-amber; cream-coloured head, fast gone, rather well carbonated beer. Fruity, very vague hops, and quite some caramel in the nose. Caramel, liquorice, toasted finish. There’s hops, but remaining in the background, giving a bitterish flavour, but always subject to the roasted caramel. Medium bodie, slightly slick. Nowhere a bad beer, even if little hoppy for an IPA. But having just tasted their sensational Speculation, it suffers... Thanks for both, JeremyG.
