About
Inspired by norse mythology, 3 ravens tells the story of an unlikely trio: hugin, munin & jack. Hugin and munin were ravens loyal to the god odin who were sent on a quest to find the secret to human happiness. Jack, the third raven was sent by loki to rattle ’em with riddles. The three ravens forming to combine sight, knowledge and creativity to concoct a magic potion is much like our own story: a group of friends—banding together in their thornbury basement—to create unique australian beers.

Can. Gold with a quickly fading white head. Aroma of orange biscuits. Light bodied. A thwack of citrus at first then somewhat buttery biscuity malt before a mildly spiced and fairly bitter finish. Missed narrowly on a few fronts.

From a 375ml can on 1/10/2019. Pours an opaque deep golden with almost no head. Milkshake IPAs seem to almost have a funky nose of their own - this is not unlike the blueberry version, though there is a pronounced sharp strawberry element to it. There's lots of strawberries in the flavour too - fairly sweet and quite tangy with the promised lactose driven creamy finish. Light bitterness, moderate carbonation. 3 Ravens tend to this kinda stuff well, and this is no exception. A bit of a novelty brew but does what it sets out to achieve, and is genuinely interesting and enjoyable.

Can. Supertasters pack from Beer Cartel. Golden yellow. Healthy head. Vague hints of pineapple on nose. Floral flavours. Have had this much fresher (this is almost four months old) and it impressed. This is verging on pale ale due to hoppiness falling away.

Can. Dirty pink orange. Grapefruit and guava nose. Lactose gives it a creaminess. Bit of hot mess really. No bitterness at all. Works as juice, but a very pricey way to drink juice.

375ml can into pint glass. Thanks to Ratebeer and Beer Cartel. Pale amber beer with a slight haze. Light carbonation, large frothy head. Nose is fruity, passionfruit and rockmelon. Patchy lacing. super drinkable. Fruity, peppery and refreshing. Finish is dry, bitter and short. This is good, real good.

From a 375ml can on 23/8/2019. Pours a slightly hazy light golden with a medium white head. Has a quite strong zesty citrus aroma. Tastes of orange, mandarin and tangerine, finishing with a moderate bitterness featuring lots of peel and a touch of grapefruit. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Very juicy and exhibits great balance. A lovely NEIPA.

Can. Oily black. No real head. Enormous boozy nose. Flavours coming from all angles - chocolate, plum, coffee, vanilla, oak. So very warming and delightful. A big cuddly beast that I could sip into eternity.

Nails its brief perfectly. Smells and tastes like a chocolate mint. Retains its IPAness with some bitterness and a lack of out and out creaminess. Kudos on creative and well executed effort.

From a 375ml can on 21/7/2019. Pours a murky dark amber with a small head. Has a strong choc mint aroma, like a Mint Slice biscuit or a Mint Pattie. The flavour follows suit - truly like a liquid Mint Slice biscuit. It's sweet up front, but has a enough balancing bitterness to make it beer like. The texture is creamy, the carbonation moderate. Definitely achieves everything it sets out to do. Perhaps just shaded by their Coffee and Blueberry Shake, but this is a lovely dessertish IPA.
