Description
Inspired by norse mythology, 3 ravens tells the story of an unlikely trio: hugin, munin & jack. Hugin and munin were ravens loyal to the god odin who were sent on a quest to find the secret to human happiness. Jack, the third raven was sent by loki to rattle ’em with riddles. The three ravens forming to combine sight, knowledge and creativity to concoct a magic potion is much like our own story: a group of friends—banding together in their thornbury basement—to create unique australian beers.

375ml can from the Beer Bank, Kuala Lumpur. Poured a hazy golden orange colour, with a lasting frothy white head. The aroma is grainy malt, tropical citrus fruits. The flavour is over moderate bitter, moderate sweet, with a super fresh, crisp, juicy lemon / lime, pineapple citrus, light creamy coconut, light pepper spice, dry, floral hop bitter palate and a lingering bitter finish. Medium bodied with average carbonation.

Can, ~13C. Black with a wisp of tan head that's soon gone. Legs! Brooding aroma with some lightening top notes: big roast, coffee, whiskey, blackberry reduction, spices. Just slightly fumy, really doesn't smell like a monster, more approachable with hints of rumbling depth. Full bodied but only a bit syrupy with low carbonation. Layers of mocha, dark sugars, the sea and fudge before roast and some pine and spicy whiskey creep up enough to finish things along with rather indistinct bitterness. Good for a silly strong.

From a 375ml can on 5/8/2021. Pours a a slightly hazy light golden with a small head. Has a fairly strong citrus nose with some tropical notes in the mix as well. There's more sweet tropical fruit on the sip though the citrus is more prominent in the bitterness, which is lots on rind and zest. Fullish bodied with moderate to average carbonation. Very solid hazy but not as good as the Mandarin version I had yesterday.

From a 375ml can on 4/8/2021. Pours a slightly hazy light golden with a small to medium head. Has a lovely sharp zesty citrus aroma. The sweet mandarin is there is spades but it's balanced beautifully by a strong, super zesty citrus rind bitterness which give it a satisfying, lingering, dry finish. Has a silky mouthfeel and average carbonation. Wow, truly outstanding.
