Oct 2007 from BA: 75cl brown cork and caged bottle, this ’Ambree’ beer has browny yellowy labels front and rear. Poured into my Hoegaarden glass and two Palm glasses. The colour is almost red, a deep brown more than amber the head was a wispy white covering. I do prefer a larger foaming head on my beers. The aroma and taste was a sweet and sour sauce sort of mix add some yeast and that is the strange smell and flavours I found. It had a tart sharpness to it, I didn’t take too this feeling at all. There was also a wierd perfumed, burnt berries feel to the aftertaste, not what I am looking for in a beer, hence the low score.

Oct 2007 from BA: Brown 75cl bottle, corked and caged, drank during my second French beer evening. Poured into four different glasses in one pour, each glass took some yeast sediment and the golden yellow colour got hazier with the final glass being dull orange in appearance. The aroma was earthy and yeasty. I was expecting a stronger taste and mouthfeel overall. The last glass was by far the best, sweeter and with a whole host of flavours compared to the clearer poured glasses. A strange beer to call, I would have another if I saw it again, this one was obtained from a drinks warehouse near the channel ports in France.

Bottle 750ml.Clear medium yellow orange colour with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, white to off-white head. Aroma is light to moderate malty, pale malt, light to moderate hoppy, fruity, moderate yeasty, fruity yeast. Flavour is moderate sweet and light to moderate bitter with a long duration, fruity, yeasty, dry. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20120201]

22nd December 2011: Cork and caged 0.75 litre brown bottle: I have a feeling this brewery brews the same beers under different names, no proof, just a hunch. Anyway, this bottle was poured into a couple of ’Palm’ tulips and an Augustijn chalice without any sediment leaving the bottle. All three glasses held an orange brew, almost clear but not quiet see-through: each on top had a good foaming head. The beer had very little aroma, some fruity, flowery esters along with a hnits of yeast. The taste was fairly bland, a disappointment to be honest: weak flavours of not much, some yeast remains and a semi-sweet malt feel to it, the hops offering nothing to the brew. Wish I’d spent my money on something else. Would have struggled to finish the bottle without help.

Brought at the ISHA national drinks party by some of our colleagues from Lille. Never figured I’d have to add it on the site. Seemed to have a golden body from what I remember, with the damn white plastic glasses preventing me to see what shade it was. Huge white head of course. Light yeasty, slightly soapy nose, completely uninteresting. The taste wasn’t far off in one of the bottlest - yeastiness and sweetness being all there was to it, completely boring. The other one showed some fruity note, orange perhaps, so I can’t diss it completely. The mouthfeel wasn’t bad but this needs more work.

Bottle. Hazy golden with small off-white head. Aroma is malt, fruit, caramel, herbal and hop. Flavour is malt, caramel, medium sweet, fruit, hops, yeast, little citrus and a medium bitter.

Bottled. A golden beer with a lazing off-white head. The aroma has notes of lemons and straw. The flavor is sweet with notes of fruits, garbage, and malt, leading to a dry finish.
