Description
United Dutch Breweries in Breda was created when the Belgian Interbrew closed the Breda Oranjeboom brewery in 2004, which it had taken over in 1995. Oranjeboom's export department carried out a management buy-out and continued independently with Oranjeboom's brand portfolio, which was acquired from Interbrew. The beers are not brewed anymore in Breda but elsewhere.

Can, alc. 4.2% (BB 04/2006)
Yellow, decent white head, lace. Typical bulk lager nose: ashy, plastic, slightly malty. Light to medium-bodied. Mainly malty flavor, some harsh bitterness in the finish. Mostly clean but uninteresting.

I found it while shopping at a super market here. It was very cheap. Not that bad lager, much better than I expected. Average.

Canned. Golden colour, small bubblish foamy head, lacing. Weak malty aroma. Strong maltish flavour which turns into soft bitterness in finish. Unexiting.

My bottle claims 7.2 % ABV Nearly black beer; huge dense, dirty brown head. Chocolate, tree bark, coffee and lots of roasted malts. Nice, but the nose looses out fast, leaving very little. Initially rather dry stout taste, hinting at sour, but then reverting to a sweeter, dull-grainy flavour, getting very much liquorice-like in character. Medium to well bodied, some slickness. At first, it’s a rather OK stout, just a bit low key for 7.2 %. But it ends in a rather dull-sweet taste. Pity, it could have been more interesting - a relief for the Heineken murdered Van Vollenhoven’s Stout?
