About
L'Alsacienne was born in 1995 in a legendary bar-restaurant in Mulhouse, Le Gambrinus. More than twenty years later, thanks to the dynamism of Christophe Griessmann, beer is being sold to other corners of the planet. Alsacienne recipes only use top quality malt and hops, the yeast in the bottle comes from the refermentation after packaging. Their wide range of beers, strong as a whole, refermented in the bottle, consists of white, dark, blonde and seasonal beers, but always of quality.

Bottle at the cafe in Hunawihr. Appearance - deep golden. Good head. Nose - lemon and toffee. Taste - more toffee, lemon and general cake notes. Palate - medium bodied at least. Could be fresher. Overall - more of a bock than an imperial pils in truth.

Bottle at the little beer and charcouterie cafe in Hunawihr. The place didn't have a name and was pretty much like someone's house. Appearance - cloudy brown and with a generous head. Nose - toffee, nuts and burnt bread. Taste - more of the toffee and bread. Palate - medium bodied and creamy. Could be a touch fresher on the finish. Overall - decent.

On holiday at a new cafe in Hunawihr which was selling beer and charcouterie. This was 8%. Appearance - golden and cloudy. Big head. Nose - zingy with tonnes of banana-like esters. Taste - more banana and possibly pineapple. Palate - medium to full bodied with a creamy and tangy middle section. Dry tangy finish. Overall - good. Quite like an Abbey Tripel.

(bottle, 33cl) Clear, golden colour with a diminishing slightly off-white frothy head. Slightly papery and sulfuric malty nose with grassy notes. Moderately sweet and delicately bitter flavour, light to medium bodied with a tame carbonation. Mildly papery cardboard-character with mildly sulfuric notes, leading into a moderately sweet and restrained bitter finish with notes of cardboard in the aftertaste. Meh. 21.IV.17
