On tap at Stemma West, pours a clear dark amber with a small beige head. Aroma has big bready malt, a touch of caramel, and subtle essence of winter spice. Flavour is much the same, with bready caramel malt upfront, complemented by some Xmas spices, and finishing fairly dry, with gentle sugars, and light bitterness. Not much depth or complexity but it’s reasonably constructed. Okay.

On tap at Stemma West, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma has soft earthy coffee, hearty oats, and gentle sugars. Flavour has earthy coffee upfront, with light sugars, and some hearty oats. A bit sludgy and muffled on the palate, but reasonable malt bill and good incorporation of the coffee. Decent.

On tap at Stemma West, pours a clear bright blonde with a small white head. Aroma is fairly nondescript, with some pine, allium, and darkness if I squint. Flavour is a little more expressive, with dank hops, some pine, light allium, and a thin biscuity malt base. Good balance, structured well, but the hop expression is rather strange.

Flavour has plenty of allium, bitter pine, and a little hop tang. Fairly spritzy palate with light malts. The hop expression isn’t that cohesive ultimately. Reasonably constructed but underwhelming hop expression. Okay.

Flavour has a strange hop expression, with a sort of tart, vegetal, piney hop character, lots of allium, and a crisp biscuity malt base. Not a fan of the expression—weirdly tart and vegetal—but the construction and balance are good. Decent.

Flavour is a little better, with some vibrant bitterness, light pine, some juiciness. Finishes dry, bright, but ultimately little character beyond that. Okay.

Flavour is quite bitter, with lots of bitter pine cones, allium, and a dry biscuity malt base. Not the greatest hop expression, but the bitterness is great and the structure is very satisfying. Good.

On tap at Stemma, pours a cloudy yellowish blonde with a small white head. Aroma has lots of cantaloupe/honeydew, some dank hops, and a thin biscuity malt base. Flavour is juicy and dank, with lots of dank piney hops, juicy stone fruits (lots of cantaloupe/honeydew), and just enough malt to back. Looks hazy, but it’s more like a juicy, dank westie. Very good.

Flavour is crisp, with light spicy hop expression, crackery malt, and seltzeey straw-like notes on the finish. Needs less seltzery character and more hops, but the structure is decent. Pleasant.
