About
The brewery was founded in 1827 under the name Stralsundische Vereinsbrauerei. In 1899 a new multi-storey brewery building was erected at the current site of the brewery. After the reunification in 1991 the brewery was bought by the Nordmann Unternehmensgruppe. In 2010, we began forging a new path. Today we do what we do best: We brew a great variety of top-quality beers, drawing on Hanseatic brewing traditions. To reflect this change, the brewery was renamed Störtebeker Braumanufaktur ('craft brewery') in 2011.

Bottle. Unclear, yellow-orange beer with a medium-sized white head leaving nice lacings. Banana, cloves, notes of hop and grain, as well as some orange and wheat in the aroma. The flavor has banana and cloves dominating, but there’s some grain, hops and a little orange note as well. Medium body. Wheaty finish with a good dash of banana. Quite decent hefe, but it could use a fuller body. (070528)

Bottled. An unclear golden-orange beer with a huge beige head. The aroma is sweet with notes of dusty hops mingling with the wheat and light banana notes. The flavor is sweet wheaty combined with light notes of banana and some yeast, leading to a dry wheaty end, with also a bit of dusty hops.

(bottle, thanks to Jevers Zeuge!) clear, dark brown, almost black colour with a reddish shine and a fluffy foamy brown head. Light-sweet, roast-malty nose with caramel, cacao, light notes of coffee and liquorice. Roasty bitter flavour with light sweet edges, medium to full bodied with a pleasantly smooth carbonation. Roast-malty taste with caramel, liquorice and herbal notes in the background. Robust roast-malty finish with a burnt bitterness and coffee in the aftertaste. A goodie with Stout and Schwarzbier attributes.

(bottle, traded with Jevers Zeuge) Clear, yellow colour with a moderate blond foamy head. Discreet aroma: pale malty, slightly sweet, grainy and slightly acidic citrus-fruity with a shy whiff of hops. Medium-sweet flavour, light bodied, medium carbonation. Rather flat grainy, slightly papery taste; thin and short malty finish with a faint bitterness. Mediocre, almost tasteless Lager/Helles.
