On tap at Halcyon, pours a clear pale blonde with a small white head. Aroma has tangy citrusy hops, some pine, grassiness, and crisp biscuity malt. Flavour is fairly oily, with grapefruit rind, pine, resins, grassiness’s and some tart citrus. Nice flavours but somehow not the most vibrant or clean hop expression. Good.

On tap at Halcyon, pours a clear blonde with a small white head. Aroma has allium, citrusy hops, some tropical notes, and biscuity malt. Flavour is much the same, bringing out allium, citrusy hops, melon, and some overripe stone fruits. Not my favourite gop combo (Citra, Krush), but it’s well-structured. Decent.

4.8/10 Appearance 5 Aroma 5 Flavor 5 Texture 5 Overall 4
On tap at Halcyon, pours black with a reddish tinge with a small beige head. Aroma is restrained, with light cocoa and a touch of pistachio syrup. Flavour is rather artificial, with fake pistachio syrup, cocoa, and not much malt base. Just a pathetic malt base and adjuncts that don’t help. Very lame.

On tap at Halcyon, pours a clear dark amber brown with a small off-white head. Nose is thin, with toasted malt and soft oats. Flavour is very thin, tasting more like a brown ale—even thin for that style—with toasted malt and barely anything else. Thin and lifeless. Lame.

Amber, hazy, very sticky sort of nose, with a little vanillins. It’s got a fair bit of alcohol, woody, tannins, some sticky malt notes. Burly but complex.

On tap at Bottleworks, pours an opaque dark amber with a medium beige head. Aroma has plenty of whiskey barrels, toasted malt, and a hint of caramel. Flavour is complex and well-constructed, with lots of whiskey barrels upfront, some spicy rye-like notes, caramel, and bready malt. Really great, complex whiskey barrel character. Excellent.

Draft pour enjoyed at Halcyon. Hazy, pale golden appearance. Hop heavy pale here, with layers of grassy, floral, and tropical / melon fruit. Juicy, but flavor remains sharp with a bite. Long lasting palate. Solid pale.

Draft pour enjoyed at Halcyon. Moderate cloudy golden orange appearance. Dense foam lacing. Very inviting aroma blasting with orange and tropical fruit. Smells like a fresh orange tangerine and guava. Thinner body for this easy drinking imperial. Melon and juicyborange, with a cool, low bitter, more crisp finish. Total summer time imperial here right at the start of winter. Really enjoyed this.

Draft pour enjoyed at Halcyon. First visit! Somehow let mcberko beat me here. #nopower. Clean golden appearance. Plenty of lacing, thin foam. Sharp, crisp front. Biscuit malts, with soft vegetable and grassy hops. Pils steady aroma. Lively carb, crisp, almost mineral finish. Hoppy pils for sure. Unique and tasty lager.

On tap at Halcyon, pours a clear pale golden blonde with a small white head. Aroma has a sort of mildew character, with non-fresh hops and crisp biscuity malt. Flavour is bright and crisp, with gentle green melon, some grassiness and crisp crackery malt. Not an obvious expression of the NZ hops, but it's clean enough. Alright.
