On tap at El Sueñito. Pours black with a tan head. Loads of bourbon barrels and dark sugars on the nose. Flavour is dominated by the bourbon barrels, has a spicy woody character, malts lean into the dark sugars and charring. Very nice.

On tap at El Sueñito. Pours a very murky yellow with a white head. Pine, citrus, and yeast on the nose. Flavour has juicy citrus fruit, some pine, and a yeasty character. This is much closer to a hazy than a west coast, especially that yeast character.

On tap at Halcyon, pours a cloudy yellowish blonde with a small white head. Aroma is very muffled, with stone fruit pith, grapefruit rind, and citrus—doesn’t seem WC-like, not exactly like a typical hazy. Flavour is similar, with grapefruit pith, citrusy hops, and light hopburn. Seems closer to a hazy than WC, but with much more residual bitterness. It’s okay.

500ml @ Ryan's. 43rd birthday gathering.
Aroma: a bit roasty, moderately sweet, boozy.
Taste: along the same lines, rough, barrel.
Overall: requires balancing and sophistication, meh.

Dark brown. The aroma seems weak, in terms of malt richness. Some fruitiness, and it's not working with the barrels. On the palate, definitely on the lighter side, The barrel is strong, boozy, kind of overwhelms the base.

500mL bottle, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma has a soft bourbon barrel character upfront, gentle oats, and toasted malt. Flavour is quite boozy and barrel-heavy, with lots of bourbon, wood, booziness, and toasted malt underneath. For a rather tame base beer, the barrels are allowed to shine here. Pretty solid, but not super complex.

Poured from 500mL bottle (2026 vintage). Near black with minimal beige head. Woody boozy bourbon, gentle roast, thinner-medium bodied. Okay, but a touch rough around the edges. Okay.

On tap at Chuck’s CD, pours black with a small brown head. Aroma has dry roast upfront, with gentle earthiness, and a touch of dry cocoa powder. Flavour is more robust, with sturdy roasted malt, dark sugars, and some cocoa. Nice roastiness and general malt support to make this a pretty solid old school impie. Very good.

On tap at the Bellingham brewery/taproom. Clear deep copper pour. Thin fleeting off-white head. Woody light toasted malts. Touch of brown sugar. Modest (if any) hop bitters. A touch chewy malts. Nice

On tap at the Bellingham brewery/taproom. Foggy light pink magenta pour. Thin wispy light pink head and lacing Very subtle berry notes and faint farmhouse yeast character as well. Easy to get into for those that might shy from the FH/S style. Quite nice
