Draught at Københavnske Øldage. I expected the worst for this one. I like hops, lots of hops as well, but I still prefer balance. Even though this one is far from balanced, it’s better than many überhoppy beers I’ve had. The pour was hazy, golden-orange, with a nice dense, beige head. As expected, the nose was resiny, piney and nothing else but hoppy. Some tropical fruits as well, off-course, but I failed to find the malts they must have used. The flavor on the other hand, had a heavy beef-stock profile, in addition to pine, resin and tropical fruit-notes. The finish is very bitter. Full body. It’s nice to have tried it, but it’s a waste of hops brewing it to this IBU level. It is surprisingly drinkable considering the hop level, but I guess it’s best suited as an experiment. (070512)

22 oz bottle, thanks Wayne for sharing...:)....Pours a rich brown, looks like coffee with a dark brown sugar colored head...smells orgasmic!...on a deep inhale, coffee beans rich and deep, licorice and prunes seep into the nostrils, I allow it...it smells sweet, I want to taste it...palate creamy and hearty all at the same time, aroma is more powerful than flavor, its good but a bit unbalanced in the malt department...a lot of coffee showing through, and a bitter finish thats blended with baking chocolate and unsweetened cocoa

[bottle] Dark brown with purple edges. Medium head. Aroma is malt, cocoa and dark berries. Somewhat rough mouth feel. Flavour and aroma is pretty much the same. Alcohol bitter finish. I’m quite sure this will improve with age.

Medium beige head. Deep dark red body. Sweet marzipan and toffee aroma with fruity alcoholic notes and some banana. Sweet watery marzipan taste with a bitter edge and considerable alcohol heat. Roasty, wooden aftertaste. Very mild, but apart from the bitterness it’s a bit boring. (0.3l draft.)

Draught at Københavnske Øldage. Deep mahogany color, clear, and without head. Really a juiced-up flamish sour ale, with a good dash of alcohol, but a decent level of sourness. Quite sweet flavor, yet very sour, with dried fruits as well. A bit astringent mouthfeel, as it should be. The finish is both sweet and acidic. (070511)

Draught at Københavnske Øldage. Clear, red body with a pink head. Cherries, almonds, marzipan and sourness in the aroma. The flavor is cherry dominated, sour, citric, a little almondy and with even more cherries. Dryish, dusty, astringent mouthfeel. Long cherry finish with a lot of sourness. I kind of miss the barnyard and horse-blanket aromas, but I guess there ain’t many farms and horses on Vesterbro;-) Lovely beer! (070511)

Draught at KØ07. Fruity and roasted aroma. Black colour. Quite sweet and peppery flavour. Also vinous. Very late and very roasted aftertaste. Strangely, I find the mouthfeel a little thin considering the ABV. Sorry to be a drag, but this is just not my kind of beer, it is very rough.

Draught at Københavnske Øldage. Clear, ruby body with a dense, beige head. Sweet nose with dried fruits, alcohol and candisugar. The flavor is the same. Full body. Sweetish, long finish with sugar, alcohol and some prunes. There’s too much alcohol present in this beer, but they should bottle it and let it rest for some time, guess that would make it even better. Rating: 8-5-8-4-15-4. (070511)
Bottle, 75cl corked, at Patricks Pub, Kristiansand. As Monk’s Brew. It pours a hazy, dark brown body topped by a dense dark beige head. Mochaish nose with alcohol, sugars and dried fruits. Some hops too. Sweet on the palate, full-bodied and warming. Chocolate, hops, dried fruits, some roasted malts and a little herbal bitterness. Long finish. A nice one, but I think it would benefit from less mocha flavors. Dangerously easy to drink though. (090321)
