Draught at Københavnske Øldage. Clear, golden beer with a small, white head. The aroma is a bit weak, and has hops and beef-stock. The flavor is a bit weak too, I think, and is mostly on the hoppy side, with a good deal of pine. Medium body, and a lots of hops in the finish. This beer didn’t suit me, at least not that day, but will try it again if I find a bottle the next time I’m in Denmark. Rating: 6-3-6-3-11-2.9. (070511)

Bottle, 75cl corked, at Olympen, Oslo. It’s a nice-looking hazy, dark golden beer with a big, off-white head leaving nice lacings. Citrusy hops and lots of sugary sweetness on the nose, like a big American West Coast Double IPA. Resins and beef stock blends nicely in. Lovely sweetness in the mouth, some beef stock, lots of hops giving pinecones and resin, as well as some citrus. Pleasantly bitter. Full-bodied, almost astringently bitter. Lasting finish with sugars, beef-stock, pine and citrus. I remembered this one as a fun but not very successful experiment, but it certainly a good one. Even though it’s a quite big and sweet beer, it feels easy to drink, but it’s not a thirst quencher. (090313)

Cask at Københavnske Øldage. Black pour, with a little topping of tan bubbles. Very coffeeish nose, with both chocolate and hops. Quite bitter in the mouth, from both hops and coffee. Even though there’s lots of coffee flavor, it feels rounded and smooth. Probably the most fullbodied cask beer I’ve ever tasted, dry, and with a long coffee finish. Yet another wonderful, crazy beer from Mikkeller. (070511)

[bottle] Dark reddish brown. Medium head. Malty chocolate aroma with notes of hops. Roasted chocolate flavour which soon gets washed away by a wave of hops. Interesting, but maybe not a total success.

Bottle: Poured a medium clear brown color ale with a medium slightly off-white foamy head with better then average retention. Aroma of medium coffee with light nutty malt. Taste of coffee is domination but not overpowering with some light and subtle nutty malt notes. Body is lighter then expected with some adequate carbonation. Overall, I would say this is an interesting take on a usually boring style.

[bottle] Thick, black colour. Large, creamy head. Aroma is liquorice, roasted malt, smoke, tobacco and hops. Smooth and balanced on the palate. Flavour brings roasted coffee and chocolate. Finish is long and bitter. Great beer but I’d rather sip on it in the evening than in the morning.

Draught at KØ07. Hazy dark copper colour. Very good hop aroma. The flavour is also quite hoppy, and nicely so. A good, solid IPA which is also well-balanced.

Bottle. Thx to Papsoe. Almost clear, copper-colored beer with a beige head. Some spices, roasted malt, caramel, alcohol and a little bitterness makes the aroma. The flavor has some spicyness, roast, alcohol, hops and some dried fruits. Full, warming body. Alcohol and spices in the finish. A cute little Christmas beer. Rating: 7-4-7-4-15-3.73 070510

Bottle. It pours a clear, dark copper body topped by a small, beige head. Lots of alcohol on the nose, quite fruity too. Banana actually, as well as caramel, spiced notes and an understandable touch of oxidation. Dried fruits, caramel, some berries, oxidation and spices, as well as a pleasant bitterness. Warming and full-bodied, finishing with a lasting bitterness. Still nice, after four years. 101229
