Bottled. Cloudy nut brown, rich head. Restrained woody smoke aroma. Dry with clean mouthfeel and fairly lightbody. Some orange make an unusual addition to the medium intensity smokiness. Lightly yeasty. Fairly low bitterness. Very interesting, but I still prefer the more traditional Franconian renditions.

Beautiful ruby to cyclamen red with very short-lived, bright pink-cyclamen head; CO² bubbles splatting out of the liquid. Beautifully rich, very wine-y thick cherries nose. Velours is the only word the aroma draws, and it reminds me, because of the colour too, of a Baroque painting of a sumptuously dressed lady. Wry, tart, very fruity flavour, ending a bit short, and leaving a bit medicinal taste behind; lemony, and maybe speculoos biscuits flavour - without the sweetness, any fruit sugars all gone. In the throat again very vineous. Near puckeringly sourish, with full dry-out effect. Fully fruit-bodied, slick. This is a great Kriek, sorry, Kers. There’s not the slightest doubt about quality or quantity of the fruit. Its flavours are great. But I have a bone of contention with it. WHY is it presented as a "lambic"? Has extraneous lambic been blended in? Probably not. It is a beautiful fruitbeer - and it ought to be satisfied at that. It does not need a tag which it cannot make true. Bottle. (THX to Papsoe) Black colour with a brown head. Aroma is smoked, coffee, hop. Flavour is smoked, balanced, hop, coffee, chocolate, alcohol. Bitter and coffee finish. Wow , this is a very nice beer.

Old golden beer with slight orange shine; huge, dense variable head as whipped eggwhite. Fresh hoppy nose, USA and/or UK hops, very lemony; lemoncake with lupulin. Very dry, hoppy taste, the same as announced by the smell. There are some drafts of malt beneath, as some overnight piece of apricot & lemoncake, and maybe some lunaria, but generally speaking, there’s nowt but hops, hops, and then some more hops. Medium bodied, quite slick; aftertaste (not really new) are unending hops, and a bit burning MF. Well... Imperial Pilsner, huh? It’s unidimensional if anything. This bear walks on socks, we’d say over here. Big thanks, Chief lachesis!

Cask at KØ07. Black colour, very small brown and big-bubbled head. Starts off quite bitter, turns into a distinct coffee flavour. Finishes with a very roasted coffee aftertaste and very late roasted malt bitterness with some alcohol. Once one gets used to all the other flavours, it turns out to be quite hoppy as well. So hoppy that it bites the throat after a while. The texture is oily, but somehow still thin. Quite interesting and with a good story.

CBF07 sample from tap. Pours pitch black with little head. Aroma is dark, coffee, slight tobacco, slight citric and fruity. Flavour is chocolate, sweet and distinct bitter/sour. Finish is a complex chocolate note with hops bitterness. Almost no carbonation.

CBF07 sample from bottle and tap (not good). Bottle, specifically as the tap version was a month too young. Pours amber clear with a good head which leaves a nice lacing. Citric to sour aroma into a very nice malt blend and slight smoked. Flavour is caramel malty with a nice hops blend. Sweet to dry finish.

CBF07 sample from tap. Pours totally red and with a nice red head. Aroma is sour and cherries. Flavour cherries and wow this is sour and bitter. No sweetness. Very very refrshing and cleansing.

CBF07 sample from tap. Pours orange hazy with a white head. Aroma is very flowery and bitterhops with a soft sweet malt profile. Flavour is plain bitter, very, very bitter. Bitter and utterly out of balance.

Bottle. (79/100)(thx to papsoe) It pours jet black, with a small brown head. Chocolate, coffee, burnt malt, a little fruityness and hops in both aroma and flavor. There’s some alcohol as well in the flavor. Full, sweet body. There’s alcohol, chocolate, some coffee, fruits and hops in the finish. It is one hell of a beer, but it lacks a little bit to reach the level of X-Imperial Stout 2006, hence the slightly lower rating. Lovely. Rating: 9-5-9-5-17-4.5. 070510

The aroma is on the malty side, lots of really dark coffee, burnt notes, chocolate and also some hops kicks in. In the mouth it’s probably a bit heavy on the alcohol warmth, but still lovely, with chocolate, loads of coffee, burnt malts and a fine hoppy bitterness and citrus touch. Full-bodied and warming, finishing more or less like it started, and it lasts and lasts. A true beauty indeed. 100611
