Tap at the Heian Jingu Beer Garden. Bright gold, slightly hazy, with a low, thick head. Lemony, citrus, spicy yeast, tangy fruit nose. Fruity and tangy, lightly spicy, verging on funky. Nice fruit. Dry finish.

Tap at Heian Jingu Beef Garden. A sour ale with Japanese plums. Medium golden-orange. Tangy aroma, of ume plums, lactic acid, light malt. Crisp, tart flavor, plum and lactic fermentation. Crisp and cleanly fermented, very nice on this humid day.

Their business card now says they’re in Nara but it sounds like it’s the border region… Koto Koto Beer Ichigo Weizen 4% Reddish orange pour. Made with Nara green strawberries with a sweet strawberry aroma. The taste has mild wheat notes but also some metallic battery acid notes which are off-putting. Ok but a work in progress, one was enough. Tap @ Maltfes
