Carmela Wallace, mother of the late Jarad, aka Juice WRLD, lived with him in Homewood. Inspired by their time here, she sees HBC as both a tribute to Jarad and a way to give back to the community she loves.
HBC broke ground in 2023 in a space formerly home to Bogart’s and opened in 2024 as a vibrant, creative, and welcoming space for great food, great beer, and community gatherings.

Tap at Homewood. Odd creature. Flavoring surrounds it, sweet, artificial. Lacks much enjoyability or redeeming qualities.

Tap at Homewood. Straightforward Helles, quite thin, almost hollow. Still clean and well made. Streamlined, but Ok.

Tap at Homewood. Pretty solid, down the middle Saison. Melon, lemon lime yeast tone. Under control, enjoyable. Good.

Draft pint. Pour has sweet honey nose and some bready malt. Hazy yellow body with a thin layer of foam. Light beer taste, but still with a decent mouthfeel. Definitely honey notes rather than mere sweetness. Does remind me of my first Goose Island Summertime many years ago, but this has more body, and just a pinch of German hop bitterness. A bit of lemon peel turns up at the end.

Taster at FoBAB. In the Wild Beer Mixed Culture / Acidic plus Fruit category. Brownish red color with a little rim of foam. Has a nice bit of a Brett smell, not overwhelming. The taste is a little bit tartish. Not much to grab me with here. It kind of just goes right on down.
