On tap at Slows BBQ pours a murky black with some lacing, off white head. Nose has toast and molasses, malt, pine, some pith. Flavor is excellent, a big fruit character to it, the hop is thankfully not drowned out by the malt, tangerine and tropical fruit, blood orange, malt, toast, molasses. Finishes dry. Very well balanced and drinkable.

On tap at MBGSF 2015. Pours dark brown to black with a light tan head. Peaty malt aroma. Flavor’s got peaty malt with some roast, some sweet cocoa, and molasses. It’s a pretty good combination, though the Scotch Ale is definitely the dominant one (Black Scotch Ale anyone?). I like it.

On tap at Seven Monks in Traverse City. Cloudy amber pour with a white head. Citrus and tropical fruit aromas, floral. Floral, citrus, and a lot of tropical fruit flavors. Somewhat medicinal. Candied flavor, even a bit of mint. A bit unbalanced toward the tropical and medicinal notes.
