Cask-conditioned at the Seven Stars, Bristol 7/1/2017. Golden in colour, with a slight, off-white, head. Some stone fruits, grainy malts and leafy hops before a decent, bitter, finish. Fine.

On gravity at Swindon Beer Festival, 24/10/2013. Dark brown with a slight, tan head. Roasty malts, plenty of dark fruit and some leafy hops, leading to a subtle finish. Enjoyable.

Cask at the Crown Inn, Pewsey. Not a patch on the Single Hop Simcoe I’d previously sampled, but nevertheless a competent blond ale. Pale amber with a scummy off-white head that laces the glass nicely; the aroma is malty with a touch of orange; the body is soft and grainy, pleasantly bitter with English hops; and a dry finish with lingering malts.

Cask at the Crown Inn, Pewsey. Apparently only enough hops available for a single brew each year, and just my luck that’s they’re putting it on as I walk through the door. It poured pale amber with a scummy white head, leaving lots of lacing on the glass; the aroma is lightly spiced; in the mouth there are tropical fruit and citrus flavours with a rounded bitterness; the finish is slight metallic, in a spinachy sort of way, with lingering honey ending and a touch of spice. A great beer, sampled in the perfect conditions of a sunny evening in the garden of an English pub.

On gravity at the Swindon beer festival, 27/10/2011. Dark brown with a slight off-white head. Roast aroma with some plain chocolate. Flavour had more chocolate, a slightly vegetal note and dryish finish. Ok.
