Description
Welcome to West Avenue Cider. Where authenticity and tradition meet big city lights. Our cider has been awarded Best Cider in Ontario for several years running, and we hope you’ll have the chance to find out why. As small-batch producers of hard cider we care about the quality of the fruit that goes into our cider—and we always will. We only use the best ingredients, coupled with a slow fermentation process, so every batch of our cider is characteristic of the orchard’s terroir. Because heritage apples are rare in Canada, we planted thousands of trees in our Orchard to ensure that our Heritage Ciders remain authentic forever.

750ml (thx, Matt and Phill!) @ Ryan's. Appearance: hazy blonde with a white head. Aroma: funky, dry, fermented apples. Taste: along the same lines, quite dry, a lot barrel and tannins. Overall: good one.

Clearish gold with a small white head. Soft barrel and yellow apple. Nice buttery yellow apple with a nice barrel finish.

750mL bottle, pours a clear blonde with an explosive white head that quickly diminishes. Aroma is full of barnyard funk, rustic notes, crisp apple skins, and some dry horse blanket. Flavour is dry and funky, with lots of barnyard funk, horse blanket, and champagne-like effervescence. There's a touch of vanilla in there as well. Very dry, not quite bone dry though, with a wonderful rustic farmhouse funk. Excellent.

355mL can, pours a clear golden with a small white head. Nose is moderately funky upfront, with gentle floral notes, and gentle crisp apple skins. Flavour is nicely acidic, with plenty of tart apples, light-to-moderate funk, and a gentle floral quality. Nice funk, crispness, and tartness. Good stuff.

Hazy pale yellow colour. Effervescent. Apple arom but with what seems to be a touch of brett. That doesn't come through on the palate, though. The palate is straight up nice and dry, with a bitter apple note, mild tannin. The power of suggestion tells me there's some honey, but honestly the honey probably fermented out and that's why it's so beautifully dry. Quality. I like it.

375ml bottle. 2012 vintage. (11.2% ABV) Pours a clear copper with a thin, fizzy, short lived, white head that fully dissipates. Sweet aroma of caramelized red apple, apple skins, oak and funky yeast. Sweet fruity flavour of caramelized red apple, cinnamon, vanilla, oak and funky yeast in a sweet, warming booze finish. Full body with a sticky, syrupy texture and soft carbonation. Nice complexity. Very enjoyable. A great dessert sipper.

750mL bottle, pours a clear blonde, no head. Aroma is full of bourbon, vanilla, baked apple, and stewed apple. Flavour is very dry, with light bourbon, oak, some vanilla, tannic notes, and crisp apple skins. There really isn't much residual sweetness at all—though that'd usually be a good thing for me, I desire a little sweetness from a barrel aged cider. Good stuff overall.

Power tasting at Phill's, bottle; 11.2% ABV
Beautiful golden colour, bright, clean. The aroma is just a notch below the top Ice Ciders, the flavour is very rich, still not the top; there's quite some alcohol, and a light dusty smell; stewed apples flavour, caramelized pineapple, good level of acidity, and mild astringency. Overall it's very good.

Sort of a darker gold. It holds a head. The aroma is different, appley but hard to pin down. The palate has a lactic sharpness but also quite a bit of sweetness. This is unique in its apple character, again hard to pin down as to what that is. Tart in the finish, but with a decent sweetness and juiciness, too. Unusual for sure, I like it.
