Description
You hold in your hand a righteous Brew, born and bottled in Kalamazoo.

Admin Note: Gonzo's BiggDogg Brewing 'merged' with Saugatuck Brewing Company. Saugatuck is continuing to brew some beers from Gonzo's still as of December 2019. All of Gonzo's social media accounts and website are no longer active. The brand is still being brewed but contracted at Saugatuck Kalamazoo.

March 2020 Update. It seems as though Saugatuck has moved any BIggDogg recipes to the Saugatuck nameplate now.

16 ounce can into tulip glass, canned on 2/15/2016. Pours lightly hazy deep reddish brown color with a 1-2 finger dense light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass. Aromas of big caramel, chocolate, brown sugar, toffee, brown bread, toasted biscuit, nuttiness, light cocoa/coffee, herbal, and roast/toasted earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/roast/bready malt and light earthy hop notes; with good strength. Taste of big caramel, chocolate, brown sugar, toffee, brown bread, toasted biscuit, nuttiness, light cocoa/coffee, herbal, and roast/toasted earthiness. Light-moderate herbal/spicy hop and roasted bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of caramel, chocolate, brown sugar, toffee, brown bread, toasted biscuit, nuttiness, light cocoa/coffee, and roast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt and light earthy hop flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying sweetness after the finish. Light dryness from hop/roast bitterness that lightly increases through the glass. Light-medium carbonation and medium-plus body; with a very smooth, creamy/bready, and lightly sticky/chalky balanced mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with only a light warmth lingering after the finish. Overall this is a very nice brown ale. All around good complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt and light earthy hop flavors; and very smooth and easy to drink for the ABV. A very enjoyable offering.
