Pint at the brewery. Pours black, with a small, beige head. The aroma is coffee, maple candies, pumpernickel, black pepper, and toffee. Sweet and sugary, with a sharp, pleasant bitterness. Medium body, with a grainy, sharp palate. This is a beautiful, balanced, and interesting stout.

Pint at the brewery. Pours dark brown, nearly black, with a small, tan head. The nose is lots of cloves, dark chocolate, anise, pine, and caramel. Sweet and malty, with a pleasant, savory spice. Medium to heavy body, with a syrupy, sharp palate. This is a tasty and solid spiced beer.
