On tap at the brewpub. Poured a cloudy brown head with a brown head that dissipated to the edges. Aroma had a combination of chocolate, roasted malts and rye with just a bit of molasses. Flavor started with roasted malts and rye with a bit of chocolate balancing the finish.

On tap at the brewpub. Poured a clear dark brown with a deep tan head that dissipated to the edges. Aroma had a light pine note that combined with some dark bread and a bit of hay. Flavor had a pine note throughout with a backing dark bread and slight roasted note.

On tap at the brewpub. Poured near black with a yellowish brown head that lasted throughout the beer. Aroma was full of roasted malt, dark chocolate and maple syrup with just a hint of bitter pine. Flavor began with sweet dark chocolate, maple syrup and a bit of roast and was joined by some pine bitterness and a decent amount of alcohol.

On tap at the brewpub. Poured a clear gold with a white head that dissipated slowly to the edges and laced slightly. Aroma was full of citrus with a hint of slight pine and a bit of backing rye and dark bread. Flavor began with citrus that was joined by a growing pine note with a hint of rye. Beer was nice and smooth.

On tap at the brewpub. Poured a cloudy brown with an amber hue and an off-white head that dissipated to the edges. Aroma had a strong rye note with caramel and sweet grain and a hint of sweet bourbon. Flavor began with sweet grain and rye and was joined by sweet bourbon that had a bit of light.

On tap at the brewpub. Poured a clear amber with a white head that dissipated slowly to the edges and laced slightly. Aroma had a combination of pine and sweet grains with a bit of backing citrus and resin. The resin was more present on the tongue with sweet grains. There were growing notes of both pine and citrus to make a complex finish.

Flavor began with molasses but that gave to dark grains with a bit of sweet chocolate and an underlying nuttiness.

On tap at the brewpub. Poured a clear reddish amber with a tan head that dissipated to the edges. Aroma was surprisingly fruit forward with sweet grains and a bit of alcohol. Flavor was surprisingly fruit forward as well with some red fruits joined by a strong sweet grain and biscuit backbone making for an interesting take on a barley wine.

Had this on tap at Revolution a few weeks back. Poured black with a brown head that dissipated very slow to the edge. Aroma had strong roasted malt notes with a slight bitterness underlying from dark chocolate. Flavor was similar with roasted malt dominating and dark chocolate backbone. The alcohol was much more pronounced in the finish of the beer.

Sample at the brewpub. This brew pours black with a medium tan head that dissipates steadily. Small patches of lacing on the glass. Aroma of roasted coffee, molasses and malt. Rich and smooth body with flavors of roasted malt, bittersweet chocolate, coffee and a bit of licorice. The finish is roasty with a lingering coffee aftertaste. Good all around.
