Bottle from Lidl. Pours cloudy dark yellow with a large foamy off-white head, faint citrus aroma, adequate carbonation, bitter resinous citrus peel taste, thin body, long bitter finish. Not remarkable.

Very dark brown coloured body with a nice but fairly thin, two centimetre tall off-white head. Aroma of coconuts, deep roasted malts, some light caramel and molasses sweetness, but the burnt and lightly smoky malts shows strongest in the nose. Medium to barely Full-bodied; Pretty rich malt profile with a lot of roasted and burnt malt notes, some light grainy qualities with a hint of anise and licorice as well, but then the coconut comes out and provides a nice balance and pretty smooth kick of flavour to the overpowering roasted malts. Aftertaste shows a pretty nice balance throughout of the malts and the grain, but the light anise notes coupled with the sweetness and especially the fresh coconut elements makes this very nice, incredibly well balanced and full-of-flavour. Great to sample and enjoyable throughout. Overall, I preferred this one to the Coffee Imperial Stout (sampled horizontally), both aged the same amount, purchased at the same time, and even though I love coffee, I preferred this one! I sampled this 65 cL bottle, purchased from Lidl in Manassas, Virginia on 24-November-2017 for US$4,99 sampled horizontally with the Coffee Imperial Stout (same purchase date/age) on 24-December-2022, a bit more than 5 years after purchase, on Christmas Eve, 24-December-2022, while hosting the holiday dinner for my family.

Dark brown coloured body with a nice pretty thick three centimetre tall rich light brown head. Aroma of coffee (of course), a lot of roasted malts and a good vanilla note, but the sweetness does come through in the nose with a smooth bit of alcohol that is noticeable as well. Medium-bodied; Pretty balanced malt and sweet bite at first with a nice light coffee hit, but the alcohol is very well muted and while the malts make this smooth with some vanilla notes as well. Aftertaste shows the coffee and earthy malt notes with some light sweetness here from vanilla and even some lactose, but the creamy and mild finish of this is very nice for the style, and most likely due to the aging in the bottle - very nice. Great to sample and while I preferred the Coconut Option (sampled horizontally), this one was great, as well! I sampled this 65 cL bottle, purchased from Lidl in Manassas, Virginia on 24-November-2017 for US$4,99 sampled horizontally with the Coconut Imperial Stout (same purchase date/age) on 24-December-2022, a bit more than 5 years after purchase, on Christmas Eve, 24-December-2022, while hosting the holiday dinner for my family.

12 ounce can thanks to hershiser2, 5/22/22. Thanks! Hazy orange, fine floating particles. Aroma of leafy hop, grapefruit, tangerine. Taste is tangerine, grapefruit, pale malt. Juicy, mild bitterness. More like a hazy than a west coast IPA. Decent.

Lidl bottle. Gold, hint of haze, white head. Resin and light citrus in the nose. Flavor is lots of resin then cut by pine, grapefruit and orange peel, floral hops, light topical fruit notes. Tasty, especially for the price.

Lidl bottle. Honey-gold with a small white head. Brown leaf, green grasses, lightly soapy aroma. Clean toasted malt, brown leaf, bread crust, lightly nutty, lightly soapy. Not bad.

Deep dark brown coloured body with a very light, but noticeable ruby glow, all with a fairly thin tan head, around two centimetres tall that fades very quickly and leaves a nice lace on the sides. Aroma of relatively sweet and pungent apple, spice and wheat notes with a lot of flowers, some malts with a strong yeast bite and even stronger sweetness, especially at the end. Medium-bodied; Very strong sweet flavour shows a ton of apples and spice with some cranberries and a dry floral charactersitic with a ton of honey and pure caster sugar sweetness with some more apple juice at the end. Aftertaste shows way more sugars, a good deal of wheat and softer malts with a lot of apple, cranberry, grape and light citrusey elements, but it's pretty hard to get past the sweetness and some of the softer spice notes that show cinnamon and coriander seed with a hint of allspice at the end. Overall, a nice enough, very sweet, pungent and fruity character beer with some yeast, wheat and light spice notes. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Lidl in Richmond, Virginia on 18-November-2018 for US$4,99, exactly two years ago, sampled two years later at my house here in Washington on the first chilly day of the year on 18-November-2020.
