Description
Bear Claw is a small brewery in Berwick-upon-Tweed that focuses on fermentation in oak.

All our beers are fermented in ex-wine barrels.

We barrel-age some of our beers, but our main vibe is the use of oak barrels as a standard fermentation vessel. All of our pale ales, IPAs, stouts, saisons etc are served mild after around 4-6 weeks conditioning.

We rarely bottle or can our beers, mostly they're served draught in the brewery on our open days.

Bottle at Craigs. Pours hazy gold with a thin white head. Aromas of green apples, grapes. Taste is bitter, appley, too much green apple. Bit of a shame as the saison was nice.

Bottle thanks to allmyvinyl. Appearance - golden with steady bubbles and a nice fluffy head. Nose - big apple note and bread. Back note of spice. Taste - more apple, more spice and more breadiness. Palate - light to medium bodied with a creamy texture and a long dry tangy finish. Overall - a really tasty beer.

500ml Bottle - Black in colour. Coffee, chocolate and hints of berries in the aroma. Chocolately, roasted, smooth and ever so slightly fruity taste with cocoa, coffee and a hint of liquorice. Really nice indeed. My first beer from this brewery and what a beer it is.
