Description
Founder and head brewer Michael loves to spend most of his free time in the mountains and as a keen mountaineer and fell runner he has visited most of Britain's walking and climbing regions. In the past he has also climbed some of the highest mountains in the alps, as well as frozen waterfalls, abseiled down seacliffs in Cornwall (only to climb back up again...), climbed the crags of the Peak District, walked and scrambled extensively in Snowdonia and the Lake District. Closer to home he has battled the Scottish winter (and sometimes the 'summer') to both walk and climb. Some of his more exotic climbing destinations have included rock climbing on the arctic Lofoten islands of Norway and trekking in Kyrgystan. Following a move to Edinburgh, Michael founded Top Out in 2013 with his friend Moo and bringing his passion for climbing to our beers as well.

Can from Appellation Wines. Appearance - deep orangey red. No head to speak of. Nose - deep red fruit notes, light ginger and the orange is more subtle. Taste - tart, floral and dank. More red fruits than orange again. Palate - tart and funky. Light to medium bodied, good length. Overall - yep, good.

Can from Westhill Service Station. It pours darkest brown to black with a decent tan head. The aroma is juicy cherry, tart, tangy, cacao, roasted malt, coffee grounds, jam and dull toffee. The taste is tarter than expected, juicy, tart cherry juice is the main player then eventually drops out, puckering, dull roast, touch of cacao and coffee with a dry, toasty finish. Medium body and average carbonation. In comparison to the other ratings seems that this has got more sour. Cuts through it. Drinks easy. Decent.

Can from Westhill Service Station. It pours cloudy blonde to amber with a decent frothy white head. The aroma is earthy, spicy, wood, earthy, cereal, behind it is sweet ripe coconut, coconut cake, some greenness, chalky vibes, mochi and Turkish delight. The taste is firmly dry, earthy, wood, spruce, spicy, leafy, bitter orange peel, campari, slight astringency, green coconut, pineapple, Pina colada, powdery / chalky vibes, mochi, floral vibes and a touch of booze with a drying, bitter citrus peel finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Sometimes kviek yeast amplifies the fruity vibes but for me it muddles things here a bi As a sabro-bro I still like it but had hoped for more.
