1668 Gründung der Brauerei durch Balthasar Hörmann. Seit 1899 ist die Brauerei im besitz der Familie Widenmayer

Die Engelbräu wird vom heutigen Besitzer, Felix Widenmayer bereits in der vierten Generation der Familie Widenmayer mit Erfolg geführt. Persönliches Engagement und das solide Handwerk prägen unseren Stil. Denn es gibt Werte die haben immer Bestand: Qualität und Tradition.

33cl bottle. A slightly hazy yellow golden colour, small white head. Aroma of fresh citrus lemonade, sugar, lime. Taste of sweet citrus lemonade, sugar, lime, no beer.

Brauselimonade und brotiges Bier im Antrunk. Weder besonders süß noch bierig, süffig aber nicht wirklich erfrischend, kurzer Abgang. Meh. 9/5/8/5/7/5

50cl bottle @ Zinnkeller, Helsinki. Poured clear golden in color. White head. Grainy malty, malty sweetness, light caramel and papery notes in flavor.

500ml bottle. Opalescent, yellow-ish, golden colour with average, thick, frothy to creamy, moderately lasting, minimally lacing, white head. Grassy, floral, hoppy aroma, rather neutral, minimally biscuity and bready, pale malty background, a touch of nettle, lemon balm, whiffs of mint, a touch of white bread crust. Taste is grassy, floral, minimally citrusy hoppy, minimally biscuity and bready, pale malty basis, a touch of lemon peel, nettle. Watery texture, smooth and soft palate, fine, soft carbonation. Surprisingly well hopped, light, refreshing - very nice!

(Bottle, 0.5 l - BB 16.02.2022, at Rondo Beer House, 20211007) The beer poured deep golden and lightly hazy. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had grass, grain and malts. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were grass, grain, fruitiness, malts and bitterness. Aftertaste was malty, grassy and bitter. A pleasant brew with balanced notes of grass and grain.

Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were grass, malts, caramel, grain and bitterness. Aftertaste was malty, grassy and bitter. A tasty malty brew with good drinkability.
