Description
Neptune Brewery has been brewing modern beers, inspired by tradition, since 2015. We’re a small but mighty team and proudly independent. Our beers are naturally conditioned and all the “uns” - that’s unfiltered, unpasteurised and unfined - ensuring the greatest flavour in each brew. It also means our beers are vegan friendly as we believe that everyone should be able to enjoy them.

Bottle from Drink? Hebden Bridge. Darker amber with a haze to it and a frothy head. It's certainly citrus heavy but its strength balances things out. Orange fruit and lemon are evident amongst many from the tropics.

Cask @ Salopian, the pub. Pours clear gold, white foam atop. Aroma is English hop fruits which continue nicely to the palette. A touch bitter and dry on the close. Palettable fruity golden ale.

Cask @ Drink? Hebden Bridge. Hazy yellow with a head. Crisp with some light citrus lemon, although its carbonation doesn’t provide for a great mouthfeel.

Cask at Craft CG. It pours hazy golden with a small white head. Then aroma is perfumed, floury white bread, powdery, oats, muffin, pine and some citrus. The taste is dry, bitter, grassy, pithy citrus, tannin, floury white bread, starw and some pine needles. Light - medium body and soft to low carbonation. Condition ain’t great, which doesn’t help. Not sold on this one.

Cask at Craft CG. It pours dark brown to black with a small, bubbly beige head. The aroma is earthy, wood, coffee grounds, leather, cocoa nibs, dark chocolate and rocky road. The taste is dry, bitter, earthy roast, wood, leather, cocoa, chewy character, tannin, liquorice and spent coffee grounds with a drying finish. Medium body and low carbonation. Perhaps condition could have been better. Fair enough, but would stand out in a crowd.

Bottle from Drink? Hebden Bridge. Clear amber with a glow and small head. Has some sweetened orange fruit that’s a little more stated in its nose than taste, but its dryness probably accounts for this.

(can, 33cl) Black colour with a big and brown foamy head. Strong aroma of coconut oil, hints of roasted malt and chocolate stay in the background. Mildly sweet, slightly bitter and sour-tart flavour, light to medium bodied with a tame carbonation. Dry and moderately roasted malty base with overpowering notes of coconut, leaving only hints of chocolate flavours; dry, slightly bitter-roasty and sour-tart finish lasting notes of coconut. The use of coconut essence is too much, imho. 31.V.18

Cask at CBC Covborn, 25/04/18. Murky golden with an off white cap. Nose is citric pith, melon, straw, toasted grains. Taste comprises tangerine, airy malts, bitter orange, melon, bread dough. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, semi drying close with earthy hop bitterness. So so affair ... nothing I'd ever care to revisit.

Cask at CBC Covborn, 25/04/18. Black with a thin tan cap that doesn't hold for long. Nose is dark malts, earthy, toffee, cocoa dusting, baking powder. Taste comprises mellow roast, ashen tones, toffee, cocoa powder, dried fruits. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, drying close. So so ... comes over rather thin.
