0.5l bottle a couple of friends brought from Wien (thanks a lot Ivana and Tomislav!), shared with ogivlado. Poured a lovely murky red body on top of which perched a bigh thick off white head that went away at a medium pace. The nose is simple but nice, buttery and smokey with light notes of alcohol. The taste is dominated by the smoke, reminding me of Dalmatian smoked bacon (panceta), built on top of a nice, very pleasant sweet maltiness with a light alcohol presence trailing behind. Somewhat buttery too. Fine mouthfeel. Sweetish, not too complex, but damn tasty.

18/02 0.5 l fliptop bottle courtesy of Doggythedog, thanks for sharing! This poured a beautiful darker orange body with medium sized cascading head. Slightly murky. Buttery and caramel, also bready malt aroma with some coffee and slight fruitiness. Complex and really nice. Flavor was orange yeasty, malty biscuit with herbal hops. Quite creamy and full bodied, but still like it misses something. A bit sweet and long finish with grass notes. This is a really nice lager indeed, not typical for Marzens though, but you won’t see me complaining.

0.5l fliptop bottle brought from the brewpub by some friends (thanks Ivana and Tomislav!). Shared with heavy. Poured a lovely hazy copper body with a cascading and lasting thick fluffy off white head. It looks just wonderful. The nose is nice too. Buttery and malty at the beginning, slightly woody. The taste was a but if a letdown after that. It’s nicely balanced.. fine breadiness, but there are beets present and that taste I don’t like in my lager much, bitterish hopiness near the end. Now, I dislike the beet taste, but it was actually bearable in this one. It probably tastes a lot better fresh and I’ll do my best to rerate it.

Draught at the brewpub.
Dark golden/pale amber coloured, medium sized tan head, light nutty caramel nose. Extremely lively carbonation. Sweet malty, very hoppy and light caramel taste with notes of spices and bread. Mild bitter finish. Very good Märzen.

Draught, 5.1% at the brewpub. Mild woody smoke aroma. Dark brown colour, seems clear. Small stable tan head. The flavour is distinctly smoky, but mild and pleasant. Mostly a woody smokiness, but it also has a hint of salami. Pleasant carbonation. Seems a bit peppery, or perhaps that is from the chili beer I just had.

Draught, 5.1% at the brewpub. Hazy dark yellow colour. Small stable white head. The flavour is chili all the way through from the first sensation to the long burning aftertaste. Very hot, must be the hottest chili beer I ever had. Burns my throat. Too much.

Draught, 4.7% at the brewpub. Faintly buttery aroma. Cloudy dark orange colour. Stable creamy white head. Good maltiness to the flavour, hint of pepper. I thought this was just another malty lager until the aftertaste where the hemp can be tasted. Works all right.
