Description
The tradition of brewing beer in the abbey buildings of the nunnery Göss was revived when in 1860 the brewer and entrepreneur Max Kober acquired parts of the monastery and reactivated the brewery. This important year for Gösser is still noted on the labels today. With the founding of an AG in 1893, Max Kober laid the foundation stone for the development into one of the most important breweries in Austria.
In 1977 Gösser joined the Steirerbrau group, which merged into rivalling Brau-Beteiligungs-AG (BBAG) in 1991. From 1993 both companies operated under Brau Union Austria. In 2003, Gösser with Brau Union was taken over by Heineken.

Bottle from Billa Plus Wien-Hütteldorf. Pale yellow with a tall white head. Malty flavours in the foreground with some shy hoppy hints in the finish. Simple but quite ok.

clear golden colour, one inch of creamy white head, which disappears quite quickly;aroma of grainy-bready and some herbal notes; taste is dominated by bready-malty notes; not really bad, though has nothing really notable
