Description
The origins of the brewery can be traced back to 1797, with an inn and a grocer always mentioned. It has been family-owned since 1919. Today Günter and Rainer Wagner are responsible for the cool liquid from the keg, of which especially the Ungespundete Lagerbier has a cult status in Bamberg and the region. The brewery has an annual production of 17,000 hectoliters.

Test vom 13.4.2008, Gebinde: Glasflasche Noten: 12,9,9,9,9,9 - 9,30

Draught. Golden colour, mediumsized white head. Aroma is grassy, cooked vegetables, some malts and mild saltwatery notes. Flavour is quite the same with the grass and hops being the strongest components.

(bottle) Clear, pale golden colour with a fluffy and lacey foamy white head. Sweet bready malty aroma with delicate herbal hoppy notes and a touch of citrus. Sweet flavour, medium bodied with a pleasant carbonation. Fruity malty and bready taste with a balanced sweet-biter finish with a good dash of spicy herbal hops and a noticeable but also well-integrated alcohol. Deceptive glugger (16.02.08).

Cask (Bayerische Anstich) at Akkurat, Stockholm. Clear nut brown, small head. Roasty and nutty with a touch of licorice. medium bodied with rounded mouthfeel. There’s grass and licorice and aniseed as well as butter, and the malt feels vital and ful of life. fairly low bitterness. A well balanced beer that may lack that extra something that is hard to define.

Bottle from Landbierparadies, Nurnberg. This was fairly dark for a kellerbier with a moderate off-white head. Aroma of caramel followed by more sweet flavours and a hoppy, dry finish. Ok.

Bottle Clear golden body, with a dusty shine. Creamy, white head. Very nice and well balanced nose of German hops, citrus, vanilla (hints), spices, coriander, orange. Nice complexity in the flavour: quite bitter with some sweetness and spices. Not too complex, but ok. One pitty thing: a little bit salty.

Bottled. Golden colour, small white head. Aroma is malts, hops and quite salty. Flavour is caramel malts, some hops and is quite wellbalanced. Alcohol shows a bit in the finish in the form of a nice warming feeling.
