2013 Vintage bottle from my local Tesco (4 for £6 which is a bargain). A dark brown/black coloured pour with a healthy tight beige head on top. Rich chocolate, coffee aroma. Tastes similar, rich chocolate, some coffee, licquorice, hint of dark fruit. It is pretty good but I’m sure it would improve considerably after some years of ageing.

Pours clear amber with a off-white head. Aroma has notes of malt, caramel and hint of citrus. Taste is light to medium sweet and light bitter. Body is light, texture is thin, carbonation is soft.

Cask at Pigs Ear 2013. Boozy too hot. Some intense dark chocolate. Quite whisky like. Ok but not my thing just way too whisky boozy. Some paper. Some choc.

Draft. Dark maroon brown color, brown head. Aroma of dark chocolate, dark fruit. Tast is cocoa, anise, coffee, figs. Very tasty.

New Beer Distributors, NYC bottle ($7): Pours black with a small tan head. Aroma is raisin, roasted malt, sugar, coffee, and a pinch of booze. Taste is somewhat sweet, but not cloying. Not really much on the bitter side. Lots of dark fruity flavors, coupled with a light alcohol burn. (2012 Vintage).

ark brown to black pour. Beige head. Aroma is dark chocolate, licorice, vanilla. Some raisin comes through in the taste. Very good. Very tasty.

Cask gravity at the Watford beer fest 2013. Thanks to Beese for the pour. Dark caramel opaque pour with a thin light tan head. Aroma is soft roast, veg, salty soy. Full bodied low carb, flavour is salty soy, roast.

Das zweite Leichtbier der Brauerei Wells & Young’s. Mal schauen, ob es sich trotz identischen Alkoholgehaltes und auch identischer goldenbrauner Farbe vom Young’s Light Ale unterscheidet. Der Antrunk ist mild-wässrig, leicht malzig und aletypisch-herb. Zum Hauptteil wird die ale-typische Herbe deutlicher, die leichte Wäassrigkeit des Leichtbieres tritt hervor, wird aber ganz passabel von der Ale-Note und der Herbe kaschiert. Der Nachgeschmack ist mittellang, Ale-typisch und angenehm herb, aber leicht wässrig sowie leicht malzig-süßlich. --> nettes Light Ale. Einen wirklichen Unterschied zum Young’s Light Ale kann ich nicht erschmecken. Der Grundton ist absolut identisch. Vielleicht ist es einen Tick weniger herb und daher nicht so aromenstark, aber das kann auch am unterschiedlichen MHD der Flaschen liegen: 9.6.11 vs. 14.10.11
