2012: Nose is sweet smoke, treacle, caramel, cherry, figs, plum, very inviting. Taste is smoke, leading to treacle, figs, plum, sugar, pears and coffee. It’s got a thick cream like mouthfeel. Very enjoyable I’d like to try a bottle which has been aged. 2013 Bottle drunk 2017. Nose is treacle, caramel, licorice, cherry, wood. Taste is strong soy, licorice, salt, treacle, brown sugar, coffee, pear drops, strong wood note with a tobacco in the very dry finish. I was right to want to age some. It has lost the sweetness which was in the bottle I tried in 2016/ 2013 Bottle Drunk Jan 2020.Nose is treacle, caramel, fudge, cherry, figs, sticky dark fruit. Taste is soy, emergent liquorice and salt, coffee, smoke, cigarette ash, wood, and exceptionally woody dry, pronounced hazelnut. The sweetness has largely gone, and is nutty and rich. There is a spicy alcohol warmth I had not noticed in my previous notes. Delicious. 2013 bottle drunk December 2023.Nose is now chocolaty, fudge dark fruit, cherry, pear drops are prominent. Taste soy, leading to faint chocolate, ash , woody, strong nut, salty, spicy alcohol. There is no sweetness left at all. I have a few more of these but I think there is probably limited reason to age them further

Pours syrupy thick black, like coffee. Aromas of dark chocolate, espresso. Thick on palate with a light dose of syrup. Candied and roast malt, sweet and bitter finish. Great mix of stuff. Some booze as well, but well-disguised. Candied apple as well. Cask Days 2013.

A deep dark stout with a thin mocha head. In aroma, smooth sweet fruity chocolate malt with light bourbon notes, and light cork. In mouth, a superb sweet fruity chocolate malt with light licorice, treacle, alcohol warmth and iodine, quite well done. Cask Days 2013.
