Bayerische Anstich at Zum Franziskaner. Brownish/dark amber with a medium head. Dark bread, mild nuts, dark fruit and some caramel.

--Bottled, thanks koelschtrinker! Deep mahogany colour, firm mid sized head. Aroma of dates, brown sugar and dark bread. Mid sweet with medium body and well rounded mouthfeel. Dark bread and hay. Fairly low bitterness. Relaxed and moreish.

Aroma had sulphur, roasted malt, caramel and chocolate. Over the palate came roasted malt, chocolate, rye bread, grassy hops and caramel.

Draft at the source on the back leg of the Bierwanderung. Almost black. Sudsy, off-white head. Not much of an aroma as served, which was probably a bit too cold. Later, some nuttiness and licorice. Taste is bittersweet. Medium bodied, decent chewiness. Not bad but not enough depth to push this one further.

Tap @ Kathi Heckenhof. brown color, hazy. Roast and some caramel in the malty, bready flavor. Maybe a bit thin. Long roasty earthy hopbitter finish. Earthy hoparoma. A very rural but hugely drinkable dunkel.
