Bottle. Hazy brown color with beige head. Aroma is caramel, apple, an idea of oxidization (probably due to the apple?), bready. Taste is green apple, a touch caramel, a bit oxidized, apple skin. High carbonation. Interesting!

Bottle at 5% ABV. Pours dark brown and leaves a large, foamy tan head that quickly subsides. The aroma is by far the beer’s strength, full of strong roasted notes, chocolate milk, and a light vinous tang. My expectations were raised. These are not fully met by the taste, which is bitter, a bit dry, complemented with notes of dark chocolate and ash, but somewhat lacking in depth. The body is simply too thin to carry much more. Still, not every stout needs to be a heavy bruiser. A good choice if looking for something on the lighter side of the style.

11.15 ounce bottle into tulip glass, best before 5/2017. Pours hazy/cloudy dark orange/copper color with a 2 finger dense and rocky light khaki head with good retention that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, peach, apricot, lemon zest, orange peel, pine, caramel, toasted biscuit, and floral/grassy earthiness. Nice aromas with good complexity and balance of citrus/pine hops, moderate dark/bready malt, and fruity yeast notes; with good strength. Taste of big grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, peach, apricot, lemon zest, orange peel, pine, caramel, toasted biscuit, and floral/grassy earthiness. Moderate pine/grassy/citrus peel bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, peach, apricot, lemon/orange peel, pine, caramel, toasted biscuit, and floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a while. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/pine hops, moderate dark/bready malt, and fruity yeast flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance, and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Light dryness from bitterness, increasing through the glass. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth and moderately creamy/bready/sticky balanced mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 6%. Overall this is a very nice English IPA. All around good complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/pine hops, moderate dark/bready malt, and fruity yeast flavors; very smooth and easy to drink with the balanced hop/malt flavors and bitterness. Fairly juicy feeling, and not too malty. A very enjoyable offering.
