Description
The Ottenbräu brewery was first mentioned in a document in 1609. But the oldest lager cellar even dates back to the 13th century. The brewery has been owned by the Neumaier family since 1846. Currently Robert Neumaier is the owner of this one-man business. So he is the one who shows visitors around, who cleans the tanks, cleans the floor, brews the beer and even delivers it himself twice a week. The brewery and the beers are ''Zwergenfrei'' (free of gnomes) which is of course a tease towards the nearby big Kuchlbauer brewery and their obsession with gnomes.

Bottle looks simple but good. Beer in the glass not too zippy, small head. Starts a bit moldy with soapy notes but gets better and better. Fine grasy with a sweet touch that makes the beer very interesting. Well balanced grasy-spicy finish, very drinkable. A great beer, although it doesnt taste like a pils!

Bottle looks simple but good. Beer in the glass very zippy, nice head. Starts mild, modest spicy, not too dry, sourish background. Finish a bit more intense, fruity like lemon, still fine spicy. Not bad!

bottle, mit Dank an pivnizub! Clear golden colour with a medium-sized creamy head. Malty nose. Medium- to full-bodied, intensively malty with grainy hints, shy hints of roasetd malts and vanilla. Pleasantly hoppy in the finish. A superb beer.

bottle, bought at the brewery. Cloudy yellow colour with a large and creamy head. Fruity nose. Malty, pleasantly fruity with hints of apples, lemon zest, orange and banana. Hints of caramel and toffee in the background. Pleasantly yeasty. A very well-crafted and balanced Hefeweizen with a lovely character.

Bottle: Pale golden, medium-sized white head; light to moderate flowery, perfumed hoppy nose with traces of wood and chalk; light to moderate - not too dry - bitter-sweet flavour; light to medium bodied, quite soft; shorter bitter-sweet finish, chalky traces detectable. A bit disappointing, they can make gorgeous beers..........

Sweet flavour, medium bodied with a well-matured smooth carbonation. Solid toasty malty base with notes of caramel and cookies; sweet and slightly toasty finish with a delicate touch of aroma hops.
