Description
The Prince-Bishops of Fulda founded their own brewery in Motten over 500 years ago. The brewery only came into private hands in 1791, as a kind of privatization. Local farmer Johann Georg Will bought the brewery for an impressive 6,000 guilders and a success story began. In 1987 the brewery was taken over by the Hochstiftliche Brauhaus Fulda.

The Hochstiftliche Brauhaus in Bavaria can look back on a proud history of over 200 years. As a regional family brewery, we are firmly rooted in the region with its history and tradition. According to the motto "from the region - for the region" we face up to our corporate responsibility towards home. Because in a family-run company, decisions are made in the long term and with a view to future generations, without only having in mind the quick, short-term success.

500ml bottle. Clear, amber colour with average to huge, frothy to creamy, moderately lasting, minimally lacing, off-white head. Grainy and minimally malty-spicy aroma, wet strawy overtones. Taste is mellow malty, minimally malty spicy, a touch of caramel and malt lozenge, dry hoppy overtones. OK.

Euro-Flasche: Golden, clear, slowly collapsing white head; sweetish grainy-dusty nose with some fruity spots, hops barely detectable; sweetish flavour, light bodied and soft; short sweetish grainy finish with very well hidden "strawy" hops in the very end. Nothing wrong with it! A well crafted, boring Helles. Even though brewed close to the northern border of Bavaria, it tastes like an archetypal lower bavarian Helles...

Bottle 50 cl. Pours a clear amber with a small, off-white head. Sweet, clean, caramel aroma. Medium body, sweet caramel again, never cloyingly sweet though. Ends to the dry side. A very clean and well made beer in good balance. 190417

(bottle) Clear, amber to chestnut-brown colour with a beige mid-sized foamy head. Slightly bready malty aroma with notes of caramel and the illusion of molasses, shades of herbal hoppy spice in the background. Moderately sweet flavour, light to medium bodied with a tame carbonation. Initially sweet malty with notes of caramel, toasted cereals, butter and vanilla; delicately toasted malty finish with a restrained hops character and caramel sweetness in the aftertaste. Drinkable Lager, no highlight. 24.III.17

Golden colour, big white head. Hay, gras, malt, hops, grain. Solid aroma for Helles. Very balanced taste, slighty bitter and slightly sweet. Very easy to drink. Soft carbonated, nice palate. Perfect summer beer!

Bottle from Tegut, Frankfurt. Pours golden/bronze with a lasting off-white head. Aroma of malt, chocolate, light roasting, coffe and caramel. Medium sweetness, light bitterness, touch of sour. Medium body, texture a bit thin, average carbonation. One of the better ones I’ve had of this style.
