23/01/2011 - 33cl bottle @ 10 uur biercultuur, Gentse Biervereniging (2011-33)

Dark blond to light orange beer, white head, non stable and non adhesive. Aroma: sweet malts, some fruitiness, citrus. MF: ok carbon, medium to light body. Taste: hop bitter, toasted malts. Aftertaste: hops, some citrus. Not exactly to be called exciting. I'll stick to the Magma.

33 cl bottle from De Bierkoning. Pours a nice orange color, a bit hazy, and a big creamy off white head. Good lacing. Aroma’s are not very strong, hop aromatic, sweet fruit, a bit spicy and malty. Flavor is somewhat fruity sweet and lightly bitter, well balanced. Dry, bitter finish, but not harsh. Very nice balanced brew.

Bottle from Malt & Vine. Pours hazy amber with a foamy beige head. There’s a malt background, but there’s a lot of floral and fruit aroma. Near full bodied. Very fruity hop with lots of florality. We could be talking light stone fruit here. And it’s pretty smooth with no heat bite. Fresh. Flavorful. Excellent.

Bottle: Poured a dark beige color ale with a big foamy head with good retention and some very good lacing. Aroma of strong Belgian malt backbone with light sweet undertones. Taste is also a nice mix between some nice Belgian malt with balanced sweetness and some light pepper notes. Body is quite full with limited filtration and good carbonation. Enjoyable and well brewed without rewriting the rule book.
