pours dark brown, with frothy white head. This bottle seem to have some age on it. The aroma was just superb, light bitter chocolate with aged fruits nose of dark cherries giving the aroma a subtle oak like nose. Taste was outstanding as well, very sweet, plenty of dark fruits, Starts off sweet followed by light bitter notes finishing with a light coat of chocolate, cocoa nibs mouthfeel. Enjoyable from beginning to end

2006 bottle at Oud Arsenal in Antwerp, pours dark brown with a tall tan head. Aroma is of roasted malt, and liqorice. Brown sugar and malt body with a touch of liqorice and spice in the finish. Enjoyable.

bottle, mine says 8.2% abv - Pours amber with a thin, lingering tan head. The aroma is led by some fruity yeast and has some roast malt in the background. The flavor is of chocolate malt and dark fruit. It finishes mildly bitter with lingering chocolate flavors on the palate. I haven’t had many Belgian stouts and understand that they are very different from the stouts to which most of us are accustomed. This one works very well though. It’s also so easy to drink and the 8.2% abv is buried. I would be easy and enjoyable to throw back several of them. Of course then that 8%+ abv would hit.

[33cl bottle] Hazy, golden colour with a huge and dense foamy white head. Yeasty, sweet malty and orange-fruity aroma with flowery and nettle-spicy hoppy notes. Moderately sweet and bitter flavour, medium bodied with a well-carbonated and matured mouthfeel. Malty and moderately citrus-fruity taste. Dry and slightly fruity finish with an increasing hoppy bitterness [10.I.09].

Aroma is fruity, yeasty and quite malty. Flavour is very soft and quite malty. Quite a sweet beer but with a slightly yeasty, spicy finish. [br]4/7/2013: Has a malty aroma and a strong bready and malty taste. Moderately sweet. Soft, slightly creamy feel.

Bottle. Brown-red color. Big white head. Smells sweet choclate. Fruity and choclaty taste. Roasted flavors, but in a much sweeter way comparing to your regular imperial stout.

On draught. Deep ruby with scant brown head. Aroma of chocolate-flavored coffee. Taste of roasted malt and almonds, toffee late. Roasted chestnut finish, quite long-lasting. Good one, should age quite well.

750 ml, 1982 bottle tasted in September 2008. Unanimous choice for best beer of the night at the Kulminator. Hazy pale orange with fine white head, surprisingly long-lasting. Aroma of musty flowers. Smooth ad dry, a bit malty with some spices in the background. Tart finish.[br]4/19/2013: Draft at the namesake, Gollem. Clear golden color, fluffy white head. Aroma of funky white pepper. Taste is barnyard, straw, pepper. Nice.

On tap at the Sharp Edge Brasserie. Very nice slightly hazy pour, otherwise just plain pale yellow. Creamy head and a clean beery attrractive aroma. Very little if any carbonation. A little bitter, but not in a hoppy way. Taste evolution is interesting, it starts off interestingly mild then evolves into a medium bitter bite. This is with each sip mind you. Nice lacing. Finish is also a medium length bitter linger.
