Undated can from the illustrious tfontana, drunk 3/30/26. Thanks, Tom!
Nice to see an updated/more contemporary APA and I do get some good berry character from the hops. The lightly toasted malts aren't too prominent, but I'm not sure what they add even as a light addition. Otherwise it's a lot of fresh yeast and biscuit with lingering raspberry. Clean and moderately aromatic overall.
Berry again in the flavor though it's quickly joined by moderate caramel, light toast and a robust bitterness. These are both higher alpha acid hops, so you gotta be careful, especially if you're adding C-malts to your beer. They're pushing it on the acidity here, and the dry berry doesn't really want that, I don't think. This would have been better with an ultra pale malt base, imho. All that said, this is still light years better than the last White Lion beer I had. Having sworn them off a long time ago. Good to see they are getting their act together as their beer was abysmal. Still getting a bit more bittering hop than actual hop flavor, but that's likely just due to the age of the can; not that I'd know since they can't be bothered to date their hoppy offerings.

Can from Luke's Beer & Wine Convenience, Palmer MA. Deeply hazy honey brown, tons of sparkle, creamy head with excellent retention and nice soapy lacing. Aroma is light orchard fruit, vaguely tart element, pale, caramel malt. Taste is strong pale, caramel malts, background faint orchard fruit. Smooth, frothy texture, average carbonation, malty finish with lingering bitterness. Getting the advertised malts but low hops. Unclear age, which might be diminishing hops.

16 oz can in a trade with tfontana. Thank you much! The aroma somehow does have raspberry or blackberry. Crazy that’s just from hops. Flavor follows with a very light cracker malt backbone. Very soft bitterness. Overall, a nice brew.
