Sampled on draft at Tapped this cider poured a bright pink color with a trace soapy white head that faded quickly and left no lacing. The aroma was vanilla and berry. The flavor was vanilla, tart berry and sugar. Medium length finish. Moderately full bodied and smooth.

Bottle from Covenhoven. Tulip glass. Cloudy straw still pour. Big melon & pear scent. Twangy, apple melon sweet and sour Sidra. Zest. Thick & vinegary. Lingering bitterness. Would do better carbonated. Not sure I would like this any warmer either. A solid recreation as is though.

Can from Covenhoven. Duvel tulip. Eager, purple drank foam, deeper, opaque violet body. Smells of overdone hibiscus, sour blueberries, grape juice, brine, yeast. Taste is very fruity & very herbal. Grape juice, sour apple, florals, medicinal herbs. Thin. Harsh carbonation. Glue. Quite bitter. Really tart. Not in the mood for this experiment.

4-pack from the closing cider week event @ Brooklyn Cider House. Pint glass. Watermelon-colored brew, cloudy. Smell is obvious hibiscus & salt. A little yeast & house apples. Taste is mostly hibiscus tea, bittersweet apples, a dash of salt & yeast. Milder & straight tart instead of sour. Crispy carbonation, with a slightly sticky/yeasty feel. Hibiscus is often too dominate, but thankfully there isn’t something even bigger to contest with it. Good mix, But I would have liked it better with some filtering. This is okay.

Scary cloudy, orange & almost pulpy pour @ Bad Seed BK. Pils glass. Maybe it looks more like an over juiced mimosa? Smell is mango, vanilla powdered sugar & apple peel. Citric acid bomb. Mango juice, orange juice, vodka, green peppers, creamsicle ice cream. Think Warheads got thrown into a mango smoothie that got thinned out by too much ice. Sizzling & a bit yeasty, but not really much body to speak of. Cider is non-existent. Simple, weird, effective. Can’t hate it.
