Bottle shared at the DC Local tasting. Pours an opaque black with a frothy, creamy, slightly beige head. Nose is vanilla, bourbon, wood, a little vinous, earthy. Flavor has lots of vanilla and bourbon, wood, milk chocolate, some toast, coffee with cream. Finish is creamy, sweet with lasting vanilla. Nice.

Bottle thanks to ericandersnavy. Pours with a deep brown body and a fading tan head. Aroma of bourbon, wood, vanilla, tannins and chocolate. Taste is quite dry for an imperial stout, woody with chocolate, tons of bourbon and light raisin. A little on the thin side. Very bourbony, but looses something along the way compared to some other big barrel aged Firestones.

Bottle from Monument in Concord, CA. Pours pure black with a low tan head. Aroma is smooth, dark toasted malt. Somewhat smokey. Underlying chocolate. Full bodied with fine carbonation. Flavor is heavy, smooth chocolate with a light hint of smoke. It is so smooth. And always the burnt malt. It just gets better & better.

22 oz bomber from my great buddies at Country Club Liquors! Thanks for getting this for Jake and I! Just crack the cap and an awesome aroma rolls forth! Nose is sweet flowers, light oaky vanilla, chocolate, licorice, and a whiff of coffee. Pitch black with a one finger cinnamon tan, lightly lacing head. Flavor has a little bourbon up front with vanilla, coffee, and some lightly smokey, roasty nuts! Finish shows some very light bitterness showing up after some light alcohol warmth! Excellent shit! (Sorry I forgot Shit was deleted)

Tap at California Brewers Festival. Poured light amber with a nice off-white head. Nice resin aroma. Really pine. Excellent IPA.

Aroma of flower hop, with some citrus. Amber color with beige head. Starts with a flowery taste, backed up by some citrus hop, and malt sweetly lurking in the background. This is really what an ale should be. The finish has those flowery notes, and the bitterness is just appropriate. As Skinners Horse - still good.

Sampled on tap at Union Ale. I got a special preview of the line of beers from the owner. Sort of your standard IPA in the vein of Sierra Nevada. Pours a translucent gold with a frothy, lacing white head. Aroma is strong hops, lemons and grapefruits mostly. Flavor has a sharp hop bitterness with a touch of crackery malts. Finish is strongly bitter. Side by side with the APA this was 2nd best but still very drinkable.

On tap. Clear warm amber golden with a small off-white head. Fresh, citrusy nose. Medium body, lightly sweet caramel notes, some fruit - peach in particular from the hops, that also leave a dry, hoppy finish. 090709

(Bottle 35,5 cl) Clear, warm, amber golden with a white head leaving a neat lacework. Fat aroma of caramel and aroma hops. Medium body, some lightly sweet caramel malt and then this great, citrusy hopping - more dry than bitter. Very compact flavours considering the low alcohol. 290307

Since this beer has a 6.8% ABV listed I'm guessing it's this one not the other Humbolt IPA...
Aroma: Tropical/citrus hops, juicy and sweet, powerful and nice
Appearance: Orange-amber in color, decent amount of lacing on the glass
Flavor: Relatively balanced, nice mix of sweetness and hops, tasty brew
Palate: Medium body, nice carbonation, nice mouthfeel
Overall Impression: This one is really tasty, huge fruity nose/flavor. Yum! Generally I don't like this much sweetness in an IPA, but they did a great job here, a nicely done brew indeed.
**Just submitted a photo for this one, as it was missing one.

(Draught at Oliver Twist, Stockholm, 25 June 2009) Amber colour with frothy, beige head. Fruity, hoppy nose with orange peel, caramel, black-currant and fresh hops. Fruity taste with notes of orange, apricots, caramel, black-currant and fresh hops in a well balanced finish with a generous hop characater. More emphasis on aroma than bitterness. Medium body, balanced sweetness. Nice beer, tasty and very drinkable.
