I have only had a gruit before as a homebrew. Two druids has the color of a slightly watered down ice-tea with a fleeting minimal head. Almost a gasoline color with no bubbles. The aroma is sharp with honey and tobacco. The flavor starts with a sweet/sour fruitiness that develops quickly into a strong tartness that becomes a smooth and dry at the finish. The strong drying sensation disappeared with more tasting. A really different experience.

Ommegang fest. On tap. Hazy brown ale with alcohol and ginger aroma. Nice sweet malt and vodka notes. Nice finish with crips hops comming in the end. Nice offering.

Deep amber color makes this one a real fine brew to look at. Thick off white head that gives off an intense malt and caramel aroma. Rich sweet malt flavor with a nice bitter finish. Good body and feel. Thanks to Willblake for sending this wonderful Alt.

I have had this beer a couple of times over the years. Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a rich golden color with a large fluffy white head. The aroma was sweet, vaguely sour, fruity and had a touch of spice. The flavor was sweet, fruity and had a light spiciness that grew on the finish. A nice golden ale.

Another solid beer from Heavyweight. +++Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a slightly cloudy chestnut color with a small tan head. The aroma was sour, fruity and malty. The flavor was sour, malty and had elements of caramel and ripe pear. There is a nutty malt presence that lingers on the finish. The caramel and a certain bitterness become more evident as the beer warms up.

This well carbonated brew jumps to a full head of foam as soon as it’s poured. No coaxing necessary. Light amber color with a touch of haze. The aroma is of light malt, and just a touch of smoke. The flavor is sweet, with a smoky bitterness that follows through to the finish. Lacks true Bock character.

This was a really interesting beer though one that I found varied significantly in the several batches that I tried. +++Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a cloudy dark brown with almost no head. The aroma was strong roasted malt and chocolate. The flavor was sour apple and roasted malt with a fruity sourness on the finish. The texture was noticeably flat. A very interesting brew.

Deep brown, clear, no head and little carbonation. Malty spicy aroma. Clean, light, sweetly fruity flavor. Maybe a bad bottle and a re-rate is needed, but for now.... Not bad, but not outstanding either.

Cloudy deep gold color with a small white head that laces fairly well. An earthy, moldy citrus and spice aroma. Sweet and spicy flavor with an overlay that starts tart and a finishes sour. The tart and sour diminish as I drink it. Interesting beer, not bad, but some will not like this.

Black with a dark tan head that goes all the way to the top floor! Thick and creamy. Rich aroma of dark caramel, raisins and chocolate. The flavor is rich as well, slightly sweet, tempered by the dark malt bitterness. Rich chocolate does the finish along with a taste of coffee. This is real yummy, I like it better as it goes.
