Cask, full pint, handpulled at Wetherspoons The Flying Horse. Cellar cold, according to the pump clip. Amber in body colour, quite clear, and with a tiny, beige head. Withered floral aroma. The taste gave some of the same withered impression with moments of caramel malts, dry hops and a touch of spices. Rounded bitterness. Drinkable, but lacking freshness and far from being in its best condition (at Gatwick airport, 08.08.2009).

Cask@The Knights Templar. Copper colour, mediumsized white foamy head, some lace. Caramel malts, wood and some bready notes. Flavour is wood, some grass and mildly bready and earthy as well.

500 ml bottle. Clear amber body with a fine off-white head. Aroma is nutty, smooth malty, caramel and some fruit. Flavor is mild malty, caramel, fruity and a decent bitterness. Medium body, quite light and easy drinkable. Straightforward session bitter, not bad at all.

Pour is a amber out of the clear glass bottle. Aroma is sweet malt and very bready. Flavor is more of a dry hop with some more sweet malts following up. A simple but decent beer.

Cask, Bridge Inn, Middleton-in-Teesdale, Co Durham. Not expecting too much from this as I’m not a fan of Greene King at all, but served in good nick this wasn’t too much of a calamity. Dark amber with a medium off white head. Some fruitiness in the flavour which was caramel malt based and slightly thin. Clean and fresh though, and thus passable.
